Marion Cotillard is the first child of the actor, director and teacher, Jean-Claude Cotillard and actress Niseema Theillaud. She was born on the 30th of September, 1975, in Paris, but was raised in the Centre-Val de Loire region, in the commune of Orleans.
As a child, due to influences from both her parents who had made a leaving from working both behind and in front of the camera, Cotillard was interested in becoming an entertainer. She began acting in her father’s plays before going on to work in theaters and other television shows during her teenage years.
At around the age of 17, the young actress appeared in her first English-speaking role in the series Highlander. By the time she was 20, she had already landed minor roles in films like The Story of a Boy Who Wanted to Be Kissed (1994) and My Sex Life… or How I Got into an Argument (1996).
Cotillard’s first starring role was in the film Chloé, after which she was cast for what would turn out to be a career boasting role in the Taxi movie series. For her role in the first Taxi (1998) movie, Cotillard was nominated for the Cesar Award for Most Promising Actress. They were said to have been good friends and because they were at those times in separate relationships, they never got around to dating. During this period of “friendship”, the pair worked together in the movie Love Me If You Dare (2003).
In the early stages of their relationship, despite all the speculation in the French media about their relationship, the couple notoriously kept things about them private. They chose to not appear together on the red carpet and to also not answer questions regarding their personal lives.
