He was named Mark Alexander Ballas Jr upon his birth on 24th May 1986 in Houston, Texas, United States. His mother, Shirley Ballas is from the UK while his paternal grandparents were of mixed ethnical background that comprised of Spanish, Greek, and Mexican. His grandfather, George Ballas was an entrepreneur who manufactured a device that trims lawns called Weed Eater.
The apt performer relocated to London with his parents during his childhood. Ballas is a graduate of Rosemead Preparatory School, South London. Following his graduation from the preparatory school, he received a full scholarship to study at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts situated in London where he learned not just how to dance but also how to act, sing, and play instruments.
