Marlon Wayans was born Marlon Lamont Wayans on the 23rd of July, 1972 in New York City, New York. He was born to parents Howell Stouten and Elvira Alethia (née Green) as the youngest of ten children in the family. He was raised in the housing projects of New York City in a Jehovah Witnesses household. For his high school education, he attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. Following that, he went to Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Marlon Wayans’ debut on television was when he starred in a small role in the 1988 parody movie I’m Gonna Git You Sucka directed by his brother Keenen Ivory, who was also in the movie. He later appeared in the 1992 movie Mo’ Money directed by Peter MacDonald and written by his brother Damon Wayans, who also starred in the movie.

Marlon Wayans would go on to star alongside his siblings in the show In Living Color from 1992 to 1993. He joined his brother Shawn Wayans to co-star in The Wayans Bros., a WB sitcom. His first major film role was in the 1996 movie Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, where he played the role of Loc Dog. He starred alongside his brother Shawn in the movie and was also a writer for the movie.

Marlon Wayans really took the industry by storm when he teamed up with his brothers Shawn and Keenen for Scary Movie in 2000. Scary Movie capitalized on the surge and popularity of horror movies, particularly Scream, by being a slasher parody and dark comedy series. He starred as Shorty Meeks in the movie and is also a credited writer.

Marlon Wayans would later reprise the same role for Scary Movie 2 in 2001. 2004 would prove a rather successful year, with the release of the Keenen Ivory Wayans directed movie White Chicks. The movie features brothers Shawn and Marlon Wayans in the lead roles, with Marlon also as writer and producer.

Despite his comedic background, Marlon Wayans has proven that he can be versatile with his works. This versatility he showed when he was on the psychological tragedy movie Requiem for a Dream alongside Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, and Jennifer Connelly. This change in pace would be followed down the line with the 2009 movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, a sci-fi action movie based on the G.I. Joe franchise.
