Maryse Ouellet now Maryse Mizanin was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on January 21, 1983, to parents Guy Ouellet and Marjolaine Martin. She spent the greater part of her early life in Edmundston, New Brunswick. Back in high school, Ouellet quickly found herself in the minority as she was the only girl in her class.
She headed the school’s fashion show at the time and began to develop a range of makeup products. When she neared twenty, Ouellet’s interest spiraled into professional modelling. She began contesting in beauty pageants, eventually winning the Miss Hawaiian Tropic Canada crown in 2003 and emerging first-runner up at the International Finals of Miss Hawaiian Tropic the following year. Her incredible status earned her a spot on the cover of Playboy’s 2007 “Girls of Canada” calendar.
In college at Montmorency de Laval, Ouellet majored in business administration. She also earned a black belt in martial arts.
Maryse Ouellet has been married to popular WWE wrestler, The Miz, since February 20, 2014. They were engaged in 2013; after dating for an undisclosed period. Maryse Ouellet’s Career
Maryse Ouellet’s wrestling career began way back in the middle of 2006 when she emerged one of the top eight contestants in that year’s ‘WWE Diva Search.” Unfortunately, she was eliminated later. Not one to be deterred, Ouellet joined WWE, as the fitness and training facility observer at its developmental territory ‘Ohio Valley Wrestling’ (OVW). She debuted as a wrestler in the ‘OVW’ live event in December of 2006. By March 2007, Ouellet had begun wrestling in dark matches. That year, she became the official manager of Canadian professional wrestler Sylvain Grenier.
It was a season of many firsts for the new face. Within the same period, she made her TV debut with an episode of ‘WWE Raw,’ in which she was featured on the music video of Timbaland’s single ‘Throw It on Me.’ In August of 2007, she signed an official ‘WWE’ developmental contract as an ‘OVW’ trainer. A month later, Ouellet entered ‘Florida Championship Wrestling’ as wrestler Ryan O’Reilly’s valet, and in December 2007, she became Ted DiBiase, Jr.’s manager.
In December of 2008, Maryse Ouellet became the main contender for Michelle McCool’s ‘Divas Championship and won the Championship on ‘SmackDown.’ It would be her first. However, she took a compulsory break owing to a knee injury she sustained during a house show in Raleigh, North Carolina. She made a big come back in February 2009, when she and her partner, McCool, defeated Maria and Eve Torres. The following month, she made her first ‘Raw’ commentary and also appeared in her first champion versus champion match, which she won.
The ensuing period saw her on and off the ring, either taking a break for a surgery or an ailment. In April 2009, after a humiliating loss, Maryse Ouellet underwent what sources called “legitimate knee surgery.” She, however, returned in November as a guest timekeeper for a Thanksgiving match. In 2010, after defeating Kim in the finals of the WWE Divas Championship, she became the first ”Diva” to hold the Championship title twice. Ouellet again underwent abdominal hernia surgery in August of 2010 after which she took a break from ‘WWE.’ Her WWE contract was called off in October of that year.
