How Bokang Montjane Met Siphiwe Tshabalala

Bokang Montjane never deemed it necessary to revealed how she met her husband, Siphiwe Tshabalala until a recent interview session with Gareth Cliff on the set of CliffCentral. There, the former Miss South Africa laid bare the details of how their paths crossed.

According to Montjane, it all started at a radio station in 2010 where she just wrapped up an interview. On her way out of the station, she met Siphiwe going in to have his own interview session. It would be safe to say that the footballer felt an immediate attraction for the ex-beauty queen as he begged for a picture with Bokang and equally indicated an interest in getting her contact details. When he couldn’t get what he wanted from her, Siphiwe had to resort to asking the staff of the radio station.

When the radio workers realized he wanted to get Bokang’s numbers behind her back, they too declined to grant his request, saying they were not allowed to do so. However, the SA soccer player eventually left the scene with his love interest’s contact details after he begged and begged.

They Dated For A While Before Exchanging Vows

Perhaps the attraction was not so strong on Bokang Montjane’s side because the Limpopo-born beauty had the Bafana Bafana player swinging on a pendulum for over two years as she played hard to get. To date, she never revealed her first child’s date of birth but we know she had a baby boy whom they named Owethu in 2015; this means that the baby even came before they officially tied the knot. While wishing her spouse a happy 36th birthday in 2020, the second time mum gushed over her new bundle of joy, describing it as a birthday gift to Siphiwe. The baby is a girl named Kgoshigadi Hadi Tshabalala.

Also in the Instagram post, Montjane appreciated the father of two for being loving, committed, and phenomenal, both as a husband and as a dad. The new mother said they always prayed to welcome a daughter and thanks to God and their ancestors, they got exactly that.

A couple of years after they tied the connubial knot in 2018, the Bafana Bafana star scored a lucrative deal with the Turkish side, BB Erzurumspor which means leaving his new family to further his football career in another continent. Consequently, Siphiwe spent a better part of 2018 and 2019 in Turkey, and according to Bokang Montjane, conducting a long-distance relationship was anything but easy. Though she made frequent trips to go spend time with her husband, the Limpopo-born queen said she missed the small things of life like when her spouse takes up the school runs, cleans her car, and the likes.

On how they kept love alive across the continents, Bokang said they took to having telephone conversations twice daily. According to the mother of two, it is all about communication, it’s all about compromise, it’s all about sacrifice. You just need to make the effort for things to start working out.
