We take you through facts about each member and every other thing worth knowing about this group.

Who Are the Members of Grey Music Group?

Grey music group was formed by two brothers – Kyle and Michael Trewartha who grew up in Huntington Beach, California. While Kyle was living somewhere around Santa Monica hustling, Michael was working at Olive Garden in Orange County. Michael had to take a drive of over an hour to meet Kyle at their home studio in Santa whenever they wanted to make music. Though it wasn’t that fun, they kept a positive mind towards their goal.

The duo’s hard work eventually started seeing the light after their remix of Jack U’s “Where Are You Now” got the attention of famous Dubstep DJ Skrillex. That was soon after they took up the name “Grey”. Skrillex asked for more of their works and subsequently introduced them to Interscope Records. They subsequently met Zedd in September, 2015 after which their professional career in music kick-started in earnest.

Zedd has since become both a collaborator and mentor for Kyle and Michael in their career. He has also been giving them grande opportunities to come live, opening for him during tours and concerts. Until 2017 when the duo went live, they had remained popular only on streaming.

About Kyle Trewartha

Kyle Trewartha is the elder of the two Grey brothers. He was born on March 21, 1992 in Australia. Kyle was the first to start making music before his brother Michael joined him. While still a student at San Fransisco State University, Kyle was going by the name ‘Singularity’, under which he released numerous original songs and remixes.

About Michael Trewartha

Michael Trewartha is the younger of the Grey brothers. He played drums together with Kyle during high school but did not really go into music after that. However, his brother’s success later inspired him to also pursue a career in music. Michael was born on November 13, 1994 in the United States.

Everything You Need To Know About Grey

Kyle and Michael of the Grey Music Group have been in the business of music many years before they established in 2015. The Trewarthas performed in drum line and in amateur bands during their high school days at Fountain Valley High in their hometown of Huntington Beach, California. That’s why it’s not quite surprising that despite having been in professional existence for just a few years, Grey is already proving to the world that it has come to stay in the field of electronic music.

Back in their school days, they had looked up to rockers like Radiohead and Dream Theater as models. But after starting to attend festivals like Hard Summer Music and Electric Daisy Carnivals, they were inspired to shift their focus to EDM.

The duo took the name “Grey” from hair dye and a series of collaborative remixes. The name came to mind after Kyle colored his hair to match his brother’s own which has a silvery shade.

Grey Albums/Singles

One year after inception, that was in 2016, Grey collaborated with American singer Hailee Steinfeld to produce their debut single, “Starving“. The single also featured a work from Russian-German electronic musician Zedd. It was a part of the group’s 2015 album, Haiz.

The song did so well that it received Gold certifications from SNEP, IFPI DEN, BVMI, and platinum from RIAA, ARIA, BPI, GLF, MC and RMNZ. It also peaked at No. 12 on Billboard’s The Hot 100 chart, earning the two brothers a global audience. Later in the year, Grey released another single, “Adrenaline” with Zedd.

In 2017, the group released “I Miss You” featuring American electronic duo, Bahari. The year also saw them release a five-song extended play titled, Chameleon. In 2018, Grey worked with Zedd and Maren Morris to produce another hit single, “The Middle” which landed first place on Pop Songs Airplay Chart.
