Michael Buble’s Early Life

Michael Steven Buble (pronounced boob-lay) was born in British Columbia, Canada on the 9th of September 1975. Of Italian-Canadian nationality, the singer is Croatian on his father’s side and Italian on his mother’s. However, he identifies more with his Italian roots as his maternal grandparents played a huge role in his upbringing.

His father Lewis Buble was a salmon fisherman and would often go away on fishing trips for months on end, leaving the children in the care of their mother and her own parents. The first of three siblings, Buble’s younger sisters; Brandee and Crystal are a children’s book author and an actress respectively. He attended Seaforth Elementary School and then Cariboo Hill Secondary School both in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Michael Buble has many times described his grandfather, a plumber by profession, as his best friend while growing up. Although he had often listened to his grandfather’s jazz records while growing up, it was when his grandfather introduced him to the music of the Mills Brothers, a vocal quartet and jazz group, that Buble knew that he would turn his passion for music into a career.

Developing an interest in Music

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, he revealed that from a very young age, he had always wanted to be a singer, and would oftentimes sleep with his Bible under his pillow hoping his prayer would be answered. The interest in music was as a result of listening to the family records that would often be played at home, and as time went on, his family became aware of his singing talent.

His interest in music waned a bit as he entered into his teenage years and discovered his love for Ice Hockey. He shared his love for the game with his father and grandfather and even played for a while. But the singer admits he was never any good at the sport and that if he was, he most likely would currently be a Hockey player instead of a singer.

After Buble made the decision to pursue a music career, his grandfather sprung into action and paid for singing lessons for him. His grandfather continued to push him, entering him into local talent shows and even paying with his plumbing services in exchange for young Michael to sing at local clubs under the stage name ‘Mickey Bubbles’. He entered and won several talent shows and that was when he started to garner the recognition that would thrust him into the start of a lucrative music career.

After winning the Canadian Youth Talent Search at 17, Michael Buble began to work at furthering his career. Under the managerial skills of Bev Delich, he booked and worked any singing gig that came his way.

In the year 2000, Buble was introduced to music producer David Foster who reluctantly signed Buble to his record label. Being associated with Foster greatly improved Buble’s image and the coming years went by with a breeze as he continued to produce hit after hit. Some of his most notable hits include his 2003 debut single How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, Haven’t Met You Yet, Everything, Home, Feeling Good, It’s A Beautiful Day, and lots more.

Buble has made countless guest appearances on different television shows and even had a brief acting stint. He appeared as an extra in an episode of the sci-fi TV series The X-files. With over eighteen Awards won and countless other nominations, the four-time Grammy Award winner has undoubtedly proven himself to be one of the greatest new-generation jazz singers of our time.

Michael Buble is currently married with three children, but before his wife, he came close to tying the knot with ex-fiancee, Canadian actress Debbie Timuss. The pair began dating in 1996 and got engaged soon after. However, the engagement ended in 2005, and Buble wasted no time in moving on when, in the same year, he became romantically involved with Hollywood actress Emily Blunt.

The couple dated for three years and his song Everything was inspired by her. In July 2008, the couple split and Buble began dating his current wife, Argentinian actress and model, Luisana Lopilato. Buble and Lopilato met while he was in Buenos Aires to perform. According to him, he was taken with her almost instantly, and even though Lopilato spoke no English, Buble continued in his pursuit even after going back to Canada.

After a few months of communicating long distance, he went to visit her and her family and the pair quickly fell in love. Buble must have fed her some serious lines because they were engaged a year later and were married in March 2011. Lopilato was the inspiration for Buble’s most famous hit Just Haven’t Met You Yet.

The couple currently resides in Vancouver, Canada with their three children; Noah born in 2013, Elias born in 2016, and Vida Amber Betty Buble born in 2018.

Michael Buble’s first son Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016, and the singer described the news as devastating stating, “…my whole life ended.”. Fortunately, the singer has since stated that Noah is currently doing well and is being nursed back to perfect health. His latest album, released in November 2018, features a song titled Love that is dedicated to his son. After his album release, the singer revealed that he will be putting his career on hold to focus on his son’s health and his family.

Net Worth

Michael Buble’s net worth is currently $80 million. Besides his earnings from the sales of his albums, the singer’s songwriting and producing work has earned him a considerable amount of wealth as well. In addition to small acting roles and paid guest appearances on television, the singer is also a budding entrepreneur with his own fragrance for women.

Height

Michael Buble has come out to say that he is 5 feet 10 inches (1.78m) tall and weighs 168 lbs (76.3 kg). His height, like that of many other celebrities, has been a topic of debate for die-hard fans, some of whom continue to doubt that the crooner is actually that tall, owing to his short appearance on screen.
