Michael J Fox was born—Michael Andrew Fox— in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on June 9, 1961, to the family of William and Phyllis Piper Fox. His father, William worked as a police officer and while his mother was an actress and a payroll clerk in Alberta. We can’t say for sure if William and his four siblings— Kelli, Karen, Jacki, and Steven—grew up in Alberta. Due to his father’s work, the family lived in various towns and cities across Canada. However, when he was 10, the family finally settled in Burnaby, a large suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia. His father had retired from service at the time but sadly passed on on January 6, 1990, due to a heart attack he’d suffered. Fox attended Burnaby Central Secondary School and later moved to Burnaby Central South School.
