Rumors have it that Mikel Obi’s Chelsea exit could be because the international midfielder “has fallen out of favor this season under new manager Antonio Conte.”

On the other hand, Nigerian Coach Gernot Rohr, believes that the star is being penalized for representing his home country during the Rio Olympics.

Recall that Obi was named as part of the Nigerian Olympic team. He honored the call to be the captain of the team. In the course of that, he forfeited the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

It was reported that the club had granted him permission to be part of the national team. Together with his team mates, they earned Nigeria a bronze cup at the Olympics.

During that time, the club shared their pride over the star on their webpage, as he impressed them during the Rio Olympics.
