Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, known better as NBA YoungBoy (and also YoungBoy Never Broke Again or sometimes just YoungBoy) is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He’s best known for his song Outside Today on the Billboard Hot 100 chart that peaked at number 31. Valuable Pain, Slime Belief and Genie are among his other songs. NBA YoungBoy entered the American hip-hop scene and made a name for himself. This rise in fame has also come with its bout of legal issues, which has landed the rapper in jail before. Here are all the details you need to know.
NBA YoungBoy Bio, Age
NBA YoungBoy was born on the 20th of October, 1999 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While wrestling one day as a kid, YoungBoy broke his neck. This required him to wear a head brace until his spine was able to heal. The brace left his forehead with three permanent scars. YoungBoy was mostly raised by his maternal grandmother, due to the fact that his father was serving 55 years in prison. When he was in the ninth grade, he dropped out of school. His reason, which he told his mother, was that he wanted to focus on his music career more.
However, NBA got arrested for robbery and was sent to a Tallulah, Louisiana detention facility. It was at the facility that YoungBoy began writing the lyrics for his debut. Shortly after YoungBoy was released from the detention facility, his grandmother passed due to heart failure. This made him start living with fellow Baton Rouge rapper and friend, NBA 3Three. The two then used criminal acts to start paying for the production time in the studio.
YoungBoy started making music with a microphone he purchased from Walmart at the age of fourteen. Life Before Fame, his first mixtape, was released in 2015 with Mind of a Menace, Mind of a Menace 2, and Before I Go following afterward. With his October 2016 mixtape, 38 Baby featuring Baton Rouge natives, Boosie Badazz, Kevin Gates, as well as rappers Stroke Tha Don and NBA 3Three, YoungBoy began to attract some media hype. On the 4th of November, 2016, Mind of a Menace 3 was released.
YoungBoy’s rapid rise to popularity could also be ascribed to his December 2015 “song-for-song rap beef” with fellow Baton Rouge rapper Scotty Cain, which included death threats in songs by both rappers. Although there has never been any real violence between the two Baton Rouge rappers, a lot of attention has been drawn to their feud. Just as his music career began to rise, YoungBoy experienced a bump in his private life; he was detained in Austin, Texas on suspicion of first-degree murder. YoungBoy released several songs including Win or Lose, Don’t Matter and Too Much while in prison, all of which were big hits. Win or Lose went viral, pushing YoungBoy’s popularity even more.
Who is His Girlfriend?
YoungBoy has dated a few ladies in the past. In August 2017, two of his exes were caught fighting each other over him. Reports say that Danielle Bregoli and Malu Trevejo got in a fight, with Malu threatening Danielle. The cause of the fight was because while NBA YoungBoy was dating Danielle, he featured Malu in one of his videos. YoungBoy eventually hooked up with Malu, before the relationship ended as well. He also dated Jania, who has had a child with him.
NBA YoungBoy has fathered four sons with three different ladies. His sons are called Kayden, Kamron, Taylin, and Kamiri. As of writing, there is no confirmation that YoungBoy is currently in a relationship with any of the ladies he has had children with, or with anyone else.
