Most popular in Mexico and in the United States of America, Niurka Marcos, who is known professionally simply as Niurka, is a Cuban-Mexican actress, singer, and dancer. She is most popular for Solamente una vez (You Belong to My Heart- 2002), La fea más bella (The Prettiest Ugly Girl- 2006), and Nunca te olvidaré (Never Forget You- 1999).

For her role as Karicia in the soap opera Salomé, Niurka Marcos won a TVyNovelas Award for Best Supporting Actress at the 20th TVyNovelas Awards.

Niurka Marcos Biography

Born as Niurka Melanie Marcos Calles on the 25th of November 1967, in Havana, Cuba, the actress is one of the six children born to Carmelo Marcos (father) and Salustiana “Celeste” Calles (mother); others being Martha, Maribel, Thomas, María del Carmen, and Ernesto. Her father was a Cuban navy major while her mom, whom she shared news of her death while speaking in an interview in 2018, was a homemaker.

Niurka Marcos was among the first set of foreigners who were naturalized by the 55th President of Mexico, Vicente Fox Quesada.

In 1998, Niurka Marcos appeared in the series Vivo Por Elena and Gotita de amor, playing the recurring roles of Myrtha and Constanza respectively. The following year, she also had two recurring roles in Nunca te olvidaré and Tres mujeres, portraying the characters of Alcatráz Cordero and Yamilé Nuñez.

In the year 2001, Niurka played the role of Karicia, an erotic dancer, in Salomé, a Mexican soap opera which was produced by Juan Osorio, her then-boyfriend. In the telenovela that aired on Televisa, she played a supporting role, acting alongside Edith González and Guy Ecker.

From 2003 to 2004, she starred in the Mexican telenovela Velo de Novia, also produced by Juan Osorio, playing the role of Vida. Also in 2004, the actress acted as Dulce María in Corazones al límite and took part as one of the contestants in that year’s Big Brother Méxic.

Two years later, Niurka Marcos appeared in a supporting role on the Televisa-produced telenovela La Fea Más Bella, which ran until February 25, 2007. She also sang on the soundtrack album of the show on the track “Se Busca Un Hombre”. The following year, the talented lady appeared in a recurring role in Fuego En La Sangre and this was followed by a role in the theatrical remake of La ronda de las arpías in August 2009.

The year 2011 saw the actress appearing in Emperatriz as Ángela ‘Quimera’ Galván, the new villain, while in the year that followed, she also featured in Ángela ‘Quimera’ Galván as Ricarda Araujo. She has also appeared in a guest role in Mi corazón es tuyo (2014).

From 2015-2017, Niurka Marcos had the main role as herself in the reality television series Rica, Famosa, Latina. In 2016, she also appeared as herself in the documentary El minuto que cambió mi destino and in 2019, she starred in Alma de Ángel as Alma Marcela Silva.

Marriage and Divorce

Niurka Marcos has been married three times, first to television producer Juan Osorio from 1998 to 2003, then to actor Bobby Larios from 2004 to 2006 and later to Yanixán Texido in 2007. She separated from her third husband in May 2009 and on February 6, 2011, their divorce was finalized.

Her Children

The actress is a mother of three children, including a son, Itzcoatl “Kiko”, a daughter, Romina, born in 1995, and another son named Emilio Osorio, whom she had with Juan Osorio.

Desire For More Kids

Although she already has three children, Niurka Marcos clearly stated during an interview with the Mexican press, that she would love to have one more child for her boyfriend. However, she also acknowledged that it may not be possible due to her age, therefore, she might consider other options such as surrogacy or adoption.

She also talked about her desire to have a big family, saying she would have had three more children. According to her, she is super relaxed when it comes to raising her kids and having another child is an opportunity to give her best as a person.

TV Hosting

In 2004, the actress cum dancer served as a co-host on Escándalo TV de noche. In 2008, she began her own television show named Espectacularmente Niurka and became the host of El Show de Niurka, a show that features games, dancing, singing and a jacuzzi segment during which she interviews other artists.

In 2011, she also hosted Ella es Niurka in addition to serving as a judge on the television show Soy tu doble in 2014.

Music, Modeling, and Wrestling Career

In 2007, Niurka Marcos released an album titled La Emperadora and appeared on the February 2007 issue of the Mexican edition of Playboy magazine. She also wrestled at the professional level on Promociones LGA in 2011.
