Niykee Heaton is a young talented singer, songwriter, model and record producer who used YouTube to draw the needed attention to herself in the music industry. She successfully recorded and uploaded acoustic guitar covers of famous contemporary raps and hip-hop lines, a feat that set the buzz rolling on her online channel.

As a child, she suffered speech impairment that probably contributed to her stage fright and ultimately led her to resort to online platforms. Her works eventually paid off in 2011 as she got her breakthrough. She has from then on, released an EP titled Bad Intentions in 2014, followed by her debut tour, and mixtape The Bedroom Tour in 2015.

Niykee Heaton – Age, Ethnicity

Niykee Heaton was born Nicolet Aleta Heaton on December 4, 1994, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joel R Heaton and Veronica Heaton. She was raised in Geneva, Illinois with two siblings; Rachel Heaton, her elder sister who passed on in 2007 due to liver cancer complications, and a brother, Cheyne Heaton.

She has a mixed heritage of Welsh, Norwegian, English, German and Southern Africa ancestry. She has visited South Africa for a few times and expressed her love and a deep connection to its people.

Niykee started her journey into the music industry at a very tender age of 5; writing songs and learning instruments. By the time she turned 9, she had already taught herself how to play the guitar. She was born in a middle-class conventional family and in a bid to hide from the hard times in her family, she took solace in music. When she was growing up, her father slumped into drunkness every other single night out of the depression of the economic realities the family faced then in South Africa.

Growing up, she stuttered a lot thus, she kept much to herself as it was hard for her to make friends and subsequently, it affected her ability to mingle with the opposite sex.

She was, however, a brilliant student, and excelled academically well at Geneva High where she graduated earlier than her peers. The excellent performance preceded her, as she earned a full scholarship to the University of Virginia. However, due to her passion and desire to make a career out of music, she declined the offer to follow her dream which has eventually paid off.

While in school, she created an account on YouTube where she uploaded clips she recorded in the comfort of her bedroom. They include covers of contemporary hit songs which she blended with acoustic guitar sounds. By December of 2012, she did a cover for Chief Keef’s song, Love Sosa and it was featured on WorldStarHipHop website which got massive views.

That singular act announced her to record labels who started making inquiries about her availability. She got a manager named Lauren and together, they recorded some impressive catalogue of songs. In 2014, she signed with a YouTube label named All Def Digital.

By September 23, 2014, Niykee Heaton dropped her debut EP titled Bad Intentions, it marked a remarkable outcome for her as it topped the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart and reached the top ten in the US iTunes store within 24 hours of its release. Capitalizing on the success of the EP, on the 13th of Jun 2015, she launched a website titled NBK (Natural Born Killers) where she released songs independently following little hitches from her Record label.

The same year, she dropped a debut music video of her song titled Lullaby which premiered on October 20, 2015, on Apple Music before announcing her headlining concert tour, The Bedroom Tour, which began on November 12 and ended on December 18 of 2015.

The successful Tour was succeeded by The Bedroom Tour mixtape which she released on March 18, 2016, it has a compilation of remixed and remastered materials she had previously shared online. Her second Tour titled The Centerfold Tour began on October 5, 2016, and ended on December 16, 2016, in the United States. Although the young entertainer is yet to produce a studio album, she has, however, stated in an interview, that she is already cooking something up.
