He is a gamer on YouTube who started posting videos at a time when gaming on the platform wasn’t very popular. Who is Ohmwrecker?
Ohmwrecker, whose real name is Ryan Fanning, was born in Chicago, Illinois on the 28th of June 1983. Growing up for Ryan wasn’t easy as there were several issues and constant problems at home. His parents finally divorced when he was still young. The family breakup made things more complicated at home which prompted Ryan to move out of home as a teenager and also dropped out of school.
Despite all the difficulties he faced while growing up, he always found solace in playing games and he excelled at it. As he continued to enjoy his games, he decided to reach out and share with others which led to the launch of his Youtube channel in 2006. His first video was uploaded on the 21st of August 2006.
One major thing that has made Ohmwrecker stand out as a gamer on YouTube is his anonymity. Unlike other YouTubers and social media stars who ride on the wave of their popularity. Ryan has kept his face off social media. He shares tidbits here and there about his childhood and life but has refused to show his face. The gaming legend maintains that he wants to have a normal life and shouldn’t have to forfeit that because he is popular on YouTube. He is content with producing and sharing his gaming videos without getting the same attention in his real world.
Not the type to be held down by a series of disappointments, Ryan went back to get a high school equivalent which enabled him to attend college. He studied Business and Administration graduating with high honors in 2013.
Ohmwrecker is fond of sharing tidbits about himself and teasing his fans with bits of information. He reveals that he has hazel eyes and brown hair. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall and has Polish and Italian ancestry. An animal lover, Ryan also said he has a dog named Buddy; unfortunately, he died in September 2017. He also admits having a rare condition called visual snow which causes a TV-like static to appear in his vision.
He mostly plays multiplayer games with various groups and has played and posted games like Rainbow Six: Siege, Dead by Daylight, Assasin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Besiege, Rust, Don’t Starve together, Garry’s Mod, Battlefield, Reign of King’s, Five Nights At Freddy’s, and several others.
The talented gamer has collaborated with several other YouTube gamers and played with various crews. Some of which include LordMinion777, Northernlion, GassyMexican, VanossGaming, I AM WILDCAT, Chilled Chaos, SeaNanners, Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, ZeRoyalViking, TheRGGMinx, Terroriser, PewDiePie, and Daithi De Nogla. After starting his channel in 2006, Ohmwrecker continued to work on building up his followership. He presently has 2.22 million subscribers with close to 500 million views on his YouTube channel. He became a verified YouTube partner in 2012 and has begun to earn the big bucks like other verified YouTubers.
With his viewership close to 500 million, he has an average of 250,000 to 270,000 views per day which should generate a revenue estimated at $1000 per day, especially from the advertisement that appears on the video.
