“The two leaders discussed ways to improve cooperation in the fight against terrorism through provision of necessary equipment,” one of President Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina said in a statement. He added that President Donald Trump encouraged President Buhari to “keep up the good work he is doing” while also congratulating the Nigerian leader for rescuing 24 of the missing Chibok girls.

“President Trump assured the Nigerian President of US readiness to cut a new deal in helping Nigeria in terms of military weapons to combat terrorism.

“President Trump also invited President Buhari to Washington at a mutually convenient date.”

President Trump, the twitter-savvy President has, however, not tweeted about the discussion with President Buhari. The White House has also not mentioned President Trump’s conversation with President Buhari. Nonetheless, this would be President Trump’s first communication with Nigeria’s President Buhari, since his inauguration.

The statement comes at a time Nigerians are wondering about the whereabouts of their President.

The statement also did not state how much longer the President will remain abroad. Suffice it to say that the reports on the call between President Buhari and President Trump have laid to rest the rumours of President Buhari’s dwindling state of health,
