Priyanka Chopra is one of the most popular faces of Indian origin to have made it big in Hollywood. The talented actress, who won the Miss World pageant of the year 2000 before taking up roles in front of the camera, is best known for portraying Alex Parrish in the drama-thriller television series Quantico.

Chopra has further been listed as one of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women by Forbes in 2017 as she continues to make advancements in her careers as not just as an actress, but as a singer, film producer and a humanitarian.

Priyanka Chopra was born as the first child of two children to her parents; Ashok and Madhu Chopra, on the 18th of July, 1982, in Jamshedpur, Bihar, India. Due to her parents’ work with the Indian Army as physicians, Chopra lived in cities all across India such as Delhi, Ambala, Lucknow, Bareilly, and Pune, while growing up. As a teenager, she lived in the United States with her aunt in cities like Newton, Massachusetts, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Queens, New York.

Due to the fact she moved around a lot, Chopra attended a variety of schools including La Martiniere Girls’ School in Lucknow, St. Maria Goretti College in Bareilly, Newton High School in Massachusetts and John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids before she returned to India to finish her high school education at the Army Public School in Bareilly. It was here that Chopra first participated in a beauty contest and won, prompting her parents to further explore the option.

In 2000, while studying aeronautical engineering, Chopra’s mother entered her into the national beauty contest, Femina Miss India, which she finished in second place before moving on to that year’s Miss World pageant which she won. She subsequently dropped out of school to become an actress as she was beginning to receive a number of movie offers.

Priyanka Chopra made her movie debut as the lead character in the movie Thamizhan (2002) before going on to star in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003) which enjoyed commercial success and was one of the highest-grossing Bollywood productions of that year. Her breakthrough role was, however, in the romantic musical Andaaz (2003) for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and was further nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actress.

In 2004, she bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role for her role in the romantic thriller Aitraaz. The actress continued her meteoric rise in the Bollywood movie industry, smashing and setting records along the way while also winning several awards which got the attention of American movie producers and led to her moving to Hollywood.

Priyanka Chopra has never been married and therefore has no husband. She is however in a relationship with American singer and actor Nick Jonas although the pair has not publicly acknowledged that they are indeed an item but have been spotted being intimate and going on vacations with each other’s family.

Early in 2018, following a trip to Assam, India, Chopra posted a picture on social media of her wearing a bracelet that looked like the mangalsutra, a necklace-like accessory, usually used to identify married women in some parts of India. This prompted speculation that Chopra might have tied the knot in secret which she was quick to deny, pointing out that the bracelet was not what it was mistaken to be and that when she decides to take the bold step, it would not be a secret.

Finally in July 2018, on her 36th birthday, the two surprised their fans by announcing that they are engaged to be married soon.

Does She Have a Sister?

Priyanka Chopra only has one sibling, a brother named Siddharth who is seven years her junior. The Quantico actress, however, has famous female cousins who have been reported to be her sisters. They are actresses Parineeti Chopra, Meera Chopra and Mannara Chopra.

The most famous of the cousins, Parineeti, who has a triple honors degree from Manchester Business School in business, finance, and economics, and is also a singer best known for appearing in the romantic comedy Ladies vs Ricky Bahl (2011). Meera Chopra is best known for starring in Vaana (2009) and 1920: London (2016) while Mannara, who is also a fashion designer, choreographer, and model, is best known for starring in Zid (2014), Kaaval (2015).
