Revisiting Thulisile Phongolo’s Boyfriend Drama With Raphael Griffiths and Murdah Bongz

As much as Thulisile Phongolo is a famous South African actress, she is also admired as a disc jockey and has become one of the figures that those who want to become a part of the country’s entertainment industry look up to. Her acting career began with a role as Zama on the SABC TV series, Tshisa. She was part of another SABC series, Makoti, and Mzansi Magic’s The Republic. Nonetheless, Phongolo is easily recognized for playing Namhla Diale on the popular soap opera, Generations: The Legacy.

Disregarding her exploits as an actress and a disc jockey which brought her to the limelight, Thulisile’s love life has always been newsworthy and it is not difficult to see why this is so. She had a dramatic romance with Raphael Griffiths before she moved on with Murdah Bongz which reportedly had her at loggerheads with DJ Zihnle. She would later describe the relationships she had as “basic” in a tweet, asking her future partners to learn from Kanye West and Travis.

Thulisile Phongolo and Raphael Griffiths Began Dating Before She Started Playing Namhla on Generations: The Legacy

What she meant by “basic” was debated amongst her fans until the actress explained that she prefers “a bit of drama” on special days, adding that no man has ever matched how she loves and treats herself. Does this have anything to do with her breakup from Raphael? Well, we will soon find out, let’s start the story from the beginning.

Although Thulisile has been open about her love life in recent times, it has not always been so. This is also the case with Raphael Griffiths who has never been seen discussing his relationships, at least to the best of our knowledge. Because of this, when the two met and the entire circumstances surrounding the beginning of what they had have remained a secret known to them alone.

Nevertheless, it is widely held that the Thulisile Phongolo and Raphael Griffiths relationship began before they became popular, some reports have even claimed that they were lovers before the former started playing Namhla Diale in Generations: The Legacy.

It Was Rumored the Thulisile Left Raphael for a Wealthy Fellow in 2015

It was in 2015 that it first emerged that the actress and the actor famed for playing Vusi Mukwevho in Muvhango were no longer together. It was claimed that the actress dumped the actor for the son of a wealthy mogul. As the story goes, it was the fellow that bought her the red Mercedes Benz she owns. Thuli took to Instagram to react to this, while she carefully avoided talking about her love life, she stressed that she bought the car herself.

Be that as it may, Thulisile and Raphael got back together before they eventually parted ways for good. What led to their separation has been largely left to speculations as neither the actress nor the actor has come out to talk about it.

Even as we may never get to know the reason behind their separation, it has been suggested that it is related to Raphael’s family background and financial status. While they were very much in love with each other when they were together, it is said that Raphael believed Thuli’s parents didn’t like him because he hails from a family that belongs to a lower social stratum. Could it be that insecurities led to the end of what they had?

What We Know About Her Relationship with Murdah Bongz

As it has been claimed in some quarters, Raphael was seriously heartbroken when his relationship with Thulisile Phongolo came to an end. However, if that is true, it did not stop the actress from moving on with her life. Just as it is hard to tell exactly when her relationship with the Muvhango actor came to an end, the exact time she started dating Murdah Bongz has also remained a secret.

A South African entertainer, Murdah Bongz (Bongani Mohosana) is best known as one-half of the musical group, Black Motion. Like Thulisile, Bongz prefers to keep his love life away from public scrutiny. As such, it is not surprising that the two kept their relationship a secret, never confirmed that they were an item, and even dismissed reports that suggested so.

But then, their fans would uncover through their social media pages that the two had attended Coachella together. As such, it became apparent that they were dating but unwilling to make it a public affair.

It Has Been Claimed that Thuli and DJ Zihnle are Fighting Over Murdah

A South African DJ who has thrived as a producer and media personality, DJ Zinhle (Ntombezinhle Jiyane) has been in a very dramatic relationship with the famous rapper, AKA. They had an on and off relationship that lasted until January 2020 and saw the birth of a child named Kairo Owethu Forbes.

When it was confirmed that Zinhle has moved on from AKA to pursue a relationship with Murdah Bongz, reports emerged claiming that the DJ and Thuli are at loggerheads over the singer.

As it has been claimed, Murdah wanted to keep his relationship with DJ Zinhle a secret but the DJ wouldn’t have any of that, so she revealed the relationship on Instagram. Thulisile Phongolo is said to be pissed by this because she and Murdah still had something going on between them. If we are to believe this story, the DJ and the actress are now out to win Murdah’s love. All of this has not been authenticated in any meaningful way, all we can attest to is that DJ Zinhle and Murdah are seeing each other.

Thulisile Phongolo Has Been Linked to Duduzane Zuma

Duduzane Zuma is the son of Jacob Zuma, the former president of South Africa. It began circulating that the two were dating when the actress shared a picture of a man that has a tattoo that’s similar to Duduzane’s. She has since deleted the picture but people haven’t stopped speculating that they are lovers, even though Duduzane has been married to Shanice Stork since 2015.

In an interview on Podcast and Chill with MacG, Zuma made it clear that he has nothing to do with Thuli, stating that he has never met her. This wasn’t enough to end the speculations as some of Thuli’s fans were of the view that Zuma was denying the relationship.

Anyway, Thulisile Phongolo took to Twitter to re-echo what Zuma said; she asserted that she has never met the man.
