Rita Ora is a British actress, singer, and songwriter whose rise to fame in February 2012 was triggered by her appearance in the music video Hot Right Now by DJ Fresh; a single that peaked at number one in the UK chart.
In August that year, Rita Ora debuted her studio album Ora which made her the artist with the most No. 1 singles in the UK Single Chart in 2012. The two singles from her first album that made it to the top are R.I.P and How We Do (Party). Also, two singles Your Song and Anywhere, from her second album made it to the UK top ten in 2017.

Rita Ora Biography, Ethnicity
Rita Sahatçiu Ora was born in Pristina, Kosovo on November 26, 1990, as the second child among three children. She has one elder sister named Elena and a younger brother called Don. Her surname is said to be derived from the Turkish word saatçi, meaning, watchmaker but her family decided to make it easier to pronounce by adding Ora. She grew up in Notting Hill, in West London where she had her primary education at St Cuthbert with St Matthias Primary School in Earls Court. In pursuit of her singing talents and a potential career in entertainment, she enroled in a performing arts school called Sylvia Young Theatre School.
As for her ethnicity, Rita Ora had disclosed in one of her interviews that is 100 percent from Kosovo. In other words, she is an Albanian by birth.
Family: Parents, Sister
Ora was raised by her Albanian parents Vera and Besnik Sahatçiu, along with her siblings in the UK. Her father is an economist and owns a licensed public house while her mother is a psychiatrist. The family relocated to West London from Kosovo during the political persecution of Albanians; Ora was only a year old then. Her elder sister Elena is also part of Ora’s career management team.
From what we gathered about Elena, she was born on October 20, 1988. She began working as her sister’s manager when she was 18 and has been by her side since then pushing her to greater accomplishments. Elena is now the creative director of brands Red Ora and Ora LTD.

Rita Ora began her singing career by featuring in music videos and as a backing vocalist to artiste like James Morrison. Her first music appearance was in Craig David’s track titled Awkward and Where’s Your Love in 2007 and 2008 respectively. She attended and qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 audition but later withdrew from the competition because she didn’t feel ready. Her original aim was to become a solo artist and according to her manager Sarah Stennett, the contest would’ve hindered that chances.
Ora also made brief appearances in music videos such as that of Jay Z’s Young Forever (2009) and Drake‘s Over (2010). Before that, she already signed a recording and publishing deal with an American label, Roc Nation in 2008 from whence she recorded an album and wanted to release it, but her label advised against it. Rather than giving up, Ora began to work on other materials and by 2011, she opened a YouTube channel where she was releasing covers and videos about working on her debut album.
This caught the attention of DJ Fresh who looking for a female vocalist for his song, Hot Right Now at the time. It became a breakout song for Ora as the single, released on 12 February 2012, was a massive success; it debuted at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart. That same year was the opening act at the UK concerts from Drake’s Club Paradise Tour.
She matched the success with the release of her debut album Ora, on August 27, 2012, of which two singles R.I.P., and How We Do (Party) peaked at the number one each in the UK and Ireland. The album released in Europe and Oceania was on the top 10 of UK album chart. Ora received three nominations at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards for Best UK/Ireland Act, Push Artist, and Best New Artist.
From 2013 to 2014, Ora continued to attain success with her second studio album and singles that kept to the top of UK chart. And later on June 28, 2013, she performed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury; followed by more performances at the 2014 telecast of Christmas in Washington and Academy Award-nominated song Grateful at the 87th Academy Awards on Feb. 22, 2015.
In December 2015, she fought to cut ties with Roc Nation with both parties filing lawsuits against each other. In the end, they reached a settlement and she reportedly moved on to Atlantic Records. The mezzo-soprano was selected to perform in a concert at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, in Rome, at the vigil for Mother Teresa’s canonization on September 3, 2016.
The following year, she released her first solo single Your Song, which was also a success, peaked at No. 7. In 2018, she made a come back in collaboration with English singer Liam Payne to release the song For You, from the soundtrack of the movie Fifty Shades Freed, in which she was a co-star.
