Secession: One Nigeria Is A Folktale If North Keeps Being Favored

On 2 different occasions, 2 Nigerian dignitaries, Annkio Briggs and Fani Kayode have blatantly suggested that the “One Nigeria” movement a sham if the north keeps calling the shot.

Annkio Briggs without mincing words says that the South East and the South south region of Nigeria have been “senselessly balkanized”.

She said that Nigeria has been surviving on series of unrecognized sacrifices from these regions.

Briggs said this during a conference at Owerri yesterday.

“Our traducers not only balkanized the former Eastern Region, but also injected false and jaundiced propaganda that has effectively left us where we are today,”

“There is a lot of misinformation in the land. We must be determined to save ourselves from the grip of those who hate us.”

Sadly she mentioned that the two zones are constantly relegated to the background. And in terms of allocations the regions gets the least compared to the north.

It is rather disappointing as Sanusi mentioned weeks ago that in spite of the large federal allocations, the northern region of Nigeria till date is the poorest region.

Taking the radar to the land grazing bill, Annkio Briggs said it was the most stupid decision any state could take.

As a matter of fact, it is one-sided that without permission, herdsmen from the north move into any part of the country making demands for their livestock. What is more the government have kept mute on addressing the nepotistic tendency that has claimed thousands of lives in just one year.

Present at the conference was Chief Aloysius Osuji who supported Briggs’ view on the marginalization of the South-east and the South-south region.

“Why are the Port Harcourt, Warri and Calabar ports not functioning? Why should our traders be forced to use only the Lagos ports? The Federal Government  should please give us the answer.”

Coincidentally, Fani Kayode who has been in constant opposition with the ruling government yesterday says if the current government is not genuinely ready to restructure the country then it’s best Nigeria breaks up.

“I say enough is enough! The only way forward is to restructure Nigeria or break her.”

Kayode said the above in reaction to Tanko Yakasai, a founding member of Arewa Consultative Forum. Tanko had said that the fight for Biafra by the South east region was being spurred by the west.

“Whether anyone likes it or not I have spoken the bitter truth. I have reflected the minds and hearts of millions of people from the south and the Middle Belt.”

“Whether they wish to acknowledge it or not, the truth is that If the core north does not retrace its steps, not only will Nigeria break into two or more pieces but people like Professor Ango Abdullahi, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai and all those that come from that zone will suffer immeasurably as a consequence of it.”

He will not be the only one who has proposed that the country splits instead of compounding expensive tragedies for all the people. Before leaving office, former US president, Barack Obama also advised Buhari to either restructure the country or let Biafra be.
