Sheree Psaila

22-year old Sheree Psaila is a young mum who was born with a genetic disorder. Sheree’s condition implies that she was born with no muscle tissues in her arms and legs.

Medics understand that this condition makes it utterly impossible for any woman to give birth.

Irrespective of what health sciences has said, this amazing and strong mum has defied all odds and is a brand new mum of a beautiful and healthy baby boy, Hayden.

Sheree Psaila still faces difficulty in lifting and carrying her baby. Before her baby ends up on her body, someone else has to assist her in lifting the baby.

“I love being a mum, but it does get frustrating at times because there are a lot of things I can’t do.”

“I can change his nappy, but it takes a lot longer and I need assistance because I can’t lift his legs up.”

“Sometimes he’ll cry and I can’t reach him to pick him up. I have to wait for someone to pick him up for me.”

Compared to being a mother in the biological sense of the word, Sheree’s story is more of a victory. The challenges are there quite alright but her personal health journey did not give any guarantee that being a mum would be a reality in her lifetime.

According to Daily Mail, Sheree Psaila was born with a health condition known as arthrogryposis multiplex congenita. The consequence of the condition is that Sheree had no muscle tissues in her arms and legs.

As a baby, doctors said she would not live for more than a year but that did not happen. She has lived for 22 years. Sheree is determined to make the best out of her life just like every other normal person does.

The 4 feet tall woman was also told she would not be able to have children.

“The doctors told me I probably wouldn’t be able to have kids, although they didn’t give me a reason why not.”

The muscle condition affected her spine, so she was only able to deliver through a cesarean; under a general anaesthetic.

Despite having undergone about 20 surgeries to improve her condition; and enduring a miscarriage, the strong woman kept on living and hoping for the best.

Sheree Psaila is a student of social media marketing, and gets a lot of support from her spouse Chris, whom she married in 2015.
