Taylor Dowd Simpson is an actress by profession but she is best known as the wife of the professional golfer, James Frederick Webb Simpson. She was born as Taylor Dowd Keith in the mid-1980s. Taylor is the oldest of five children born to Gregory Keith and his wife, India. She grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina alongside her siblings.

Taylor Dowd Simpson studied Theater at the Wake Forest University in North Carolina, her parents’ and siblings’ Alma mater. She was an active member of the University’s theater and comedy group, performing in various popular plays including playing Juliet in their production of Shakespeare’s romantic drama, Romeo and Juliet. She was also a member of one of her school’s sororities, Chi Omega. Taylor as well did very well academically, graduating cum laude in 2007.

Taylor met Webb while they were both studying at the Wake Forest University. At the time of their meeting, Dowd was a sophomore while Simpson was a freshman. Taylor’s classmate and friend, Maggie Simmons was the one who created the opportunity for their meeting.

On hearing that Webb Simpson was joining Wake Forest on a scholarship, Maggie who comes from the same town as Webb (Raleigh) teased Taylor by calling Simpson her future husband. She soon after invited Taylor to her party at Raleigh at which Webb’s dad, Sam Simpson offered Taylor $100 to take his son out on learning that she is a Wake Sophomore. Dowd had replied that she’ll do that for free if his son happens to be half as cute as himself! The conversation, however, passed out as a joke with both parties doing nothing of what they said. Howbeit, Webb’s dad gave him a good description of Taylor and the later henceforth became on the lookout. The duo eventually met later on at school and became friends. And sure, Sam Simpson kept his $100 promise which the pair spent on a steak dinner.

Taylor and Webb started dating in 2004, and did so throughout their years at Wake Forest. Surprisingly, they broke up after Dowd left the university in 2007, with Simpson having one more year to go. The duo, however, eventually reunited one later, after Webb’s graduation. They engaged just five months after their reunion and tied the knots after another five months. Their wedding took place in January 2010 at the Quail Hollow Club, a golf course in Charlotte.

Taylor Dowd Simpson has five children with her husband. She gave birth to her first child, a son named James in 2011. Her second child, a daughter named Willow Grace was born the next year, 2012.
