Details of Super Junior’s Official Comeback
Despite being left with nine active members, Super Junior has experienced some level of inconsistencies in the last few years, with some of its members being absent from a number of performances. For instance, the group had only seven members on their Extended Play titled, One More Time (2018). Heechul was absent due to his leg injury while Kyuhyun joined the military for his mandatory service.
Reports, however, became rife early in 2019 that the band is planning a full lineup comeback with their 9th studio album before the year runs out. The news comes after Kyuhyun, the youngest member of the group completed his mandatory military service. Leeteuk gave a peek at the comeback through an IG post in which he hinted at Kyuhyun’s return from the military, telling fans that they might be seeing all of his bandmates soon.
When Exactly are They Launching their Comeback?
Although the anticipated nonet did not mention the exact date of their comeback, they left a few clues to the D-day. The group initially posted a clock that counts down to 999 hours on their official IG page on September 2, 2019 at 7: pm. Calculations based on this puts the date at October 14, 2019 at 6:00 pm (KST). A new official website for Super Junior is also counting down to the same date.
Further substantiating the highly anticipated comeback, Super Junior announced their Super Show 8 world tour which opens on 12th and 13th October 2019 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena (a.k.a KSPO Dome) in Seoul, South Korea. The event which features music concerts and show promotions comes ahead of the release of the group’s aforementioned ninth album. Unfortunately, Heechul will not be part of the tour as his leg condition is not yet perfect to carry him through the events. He is, however, a part of the upcoming studio album.
Also coming ahead of the album is the band’s reality television show, SJ Return 3. The documentary TV show is aimed at giving fans a peek at behind-the-scenes preparations towards their official return. It will follow the individual and collective activities of the group which all revolve around making and recording the anticipated album.
