The Role Asavela Mngqithi’s Parents and Other Family Members Played in Her Rise to Fame

Asavela Mngqithi has been gaining a lot of attention recently and it has a lot to do with her role on Isibaya. The South African actress is vastly admired for playing Ntwenhle Ngubane in the daily drama series created by Angus Gibson, Desiree Markgraaff, Teboho Mahlatsi, and Catherine Stewart. Being one of the most popular television shows in the country, it is easy to see how Asavela has become a celebrated figure in her country.

More than being an actress, the South African entertainer is admired for a handful of other reasons. For instance, her curvy figure has earned her a lot of fans who seize any opportunity they get to remind the actress that she is good looking. Also, Asavela is quite a talented singer. Sometime in 2018, she released a song titled “Isgubhusama Zulu” with Melusi Mbhele. While it is anticipated that she would embark on more musical projects, people continue to seek information about how she got to penetrate the entertainment industry with many wondering if her family played any role in her rise to fame.

Asavela Mngqithi’s Family Didn’t Play Any Significant Role that Directly Aided Her Career Success

Given that the actress is relatively a new face in the South African entertainment industry, a lot of things are yet to be known about her. But based on what has been reported on various platforms, the entertainer was born on the 4th of June 1996 and was raised by her mother and grandmother in Lamontville, even though her place of birth was in Umzimkhulu, KwaZulu-Natal.

In one or many ways, Asavela Mngqithi must be grateful to her mother and grandmother for raising and teaching her the values of hard work in life. Such an upbringing may have played a role in what she has been able to attain in her career. But to the best of our knowledge, that’s as far as the role her parents and other relatives of her family played in her upbringing goes.

Mngqithi was never urged or encouraged by her family to pursue a career in entertainment. In fact, she only embraced acting in a quest to get a job after she dropped out of college. From what we gathered, she was a student of AFDA College, a higher educational institution known for offering courses in television, film, radio, performance, and what have you. It is said that Mngqithi majored in camera and editing before she dropped out of college in her third year for reasons that are yet to be ascertained.

If one must assert that her family has something to do with her rise to fame, then it should be for providing her the financial support she needed to attend AFDA College in the first place. Undoubtedly, what she learned from the institution nudged her towards settling for a career in the entertainment industry.

Her Father is a Popular Football Coach in South Africa

As stated earlier, a lot of things are yet to be learned about Asavela Mngqithi. For instance, while it is known that she was raised by her mother and grandmother, who they are and even their names are unknown to the public. Thankfully, this is not the case for her father, Manqoba Mngqithi. The man, as one would easily find, is a professional football coach who has managed a handful of clubs that compete in the South African football league system.

Alongside Rulani Mokeona, Asavela’s father, as of this writing, is a joint head coach of the Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club; the club competes in the Premier Soccer League which is the first tier of league football in South Africa. Reports have it that Manqoba was a teacher before he began coaching.

Much is not known about the nature of the relationship between Asavela and her father, but there are no reasons to believe they are not on good terms.

Does the Actress Have Siblings?

Irrespective of the fact that Asavela Mngqithi has become a popular name in the South African entertainment industry, she has left a great deal of her private life away from the limelight. For a while, it was pretty difficult for anyone to tell if she is the only child of her parents or whether she has siblings. But then, through her activities on social media platforms, we have come to learn that she has at least a younger sister.

In February 2018, Asavela tweeted about her mother’s reaction when she learned that her younger sister has a boyfriend. Also through Twitter, her fans got to know that the said sister isn’t her only sibling. This happened in June 2019 when the actress disclosed that she, her mother, and siblings were held at gunpoint at their home in Lamontville.

Apart from the foregoing, the actress has not disclosed anything else about her siblings. Their identities have remained unknown and it is hard for anyone to tell what they do for a living. However, from the way she referred to them in the tweets above, one can tell she holds them in great esteem.

Asavela Mngqithi Will Become a Mother In the Nearest Future

The Isibaya actress is set to start building a family of her own. In May 2020, she disclosed that she was expecting a child, describing her unborn baby as the best thing she has ever done while asserting she can’t wait to meet her child. As the actress is yet to be married, people embraced the disclosure as an indication that the actress is working towards starting a family of her own.

While many have been curious and eager to learn who the father of her unborn child is, the actress has been unwilling to share the information with the public. She has only teased that she will name her child Umfihlo, which means “a secret”, because of the level of secrecy she shares with the unborn child.

Not too long after, the actress declared that she is ready for marriage, asking her fans to expect a wedding anytime soon. Considering that statement, it is only a matter of time before the world gets to meet the love of her life. And judging by what she said, her man appears to be a thoughtful fellow and they have been together for a couple of years.
