Koraun Mayweather was welcomed to the world on the 17th of November 1999. While it is not clear where exactly he was born, Floyd’s first son was born in the United States of America. He has two full siblings; Zion and Jirah Mayweather and a half-sister, Iyanna, who his father had from his relationship with Melissa Brim.
2. Koraun and His Father Have a Tumultuous Relationship
Koraun’s relationship with his father has deteriorated over time due to his father’s physical abuse of his mother. Floyd Mayweather’s then-girlfriend Josie Harris recounted being a victim of domestic abuse during her long-term relationship with the boxer. Her son was said to have witnessed this abuse.
The world first knew of the possibility of abuse in the Mayweather home when Josie alleged in July of 2005 that the boxer had hit and kicked her while they were outside a club in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shockingly, when the matter got to court, she testified that she lied and had not suffered any abuse from him, which led to his acquittal. No one knows what made her change the story although looking at the present state of things, most people concluded that she was coerced.
In 2010, the matter resurfaced after Koraun witnessed an incident. He recounted that on that day, his father had asked him to stay inside his room and lock the door and had proceeded to physically abuse his mother. Koraun Mayweather, knowing that his mother was in danger, tried to run out of his room but was stopped by his father’s friend. He then escaped through the window of his room and ran to the guard, telling him to call an ambulance and the police. The next day, his father was arrested and put in jail but was released on a bail of $3,000. Floyd was charged with 3 counts of misdemeanor harassment, 1 count of felony robbery, and 2 counts of felony coercion. One year later, he was sentenced to 90 days in prison but after pleading guilty was made to perform a hundred hours of community service, attend a 12-month domestic violence program, and pay a fine of $2,500.
