Thomas Middleditch’s Biography

Thomas Steven Middleditch was born in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada, on March 10, 1982, to British parents. Theirs was a close-knit, middle-class family. Although details about his childhood, parents or what they did for a living is unavailable, it is known that Thomas was well-schooled, quite recluse and has had media exposure since his early days. While in eighth grade, Middleditch was cast in a play which, according to him, was a game changer. He quickly evolved from a shy kid into this funny, popular kid in junior high school. Through his participation at Theatresports, he discovered just how much opportunity awaits him in improv comedy.

Following his graduation from high school, Middleditch enrolled at the University of Victoria before he eventually moved to Toronto, where he auditioned for and enrolled in George Brown Theatre School. That should’ve been a big one for the upcoming comedian, except that he never began his course at George Brown; the reason for this has never been revealed. Instead, he chose to make sketches on his own and worked at a New Balance store to pay his bills.

Thomas Middleditch then moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he enrolled and took lessons at The Second City and iO Theater. Around the time, he was also performing. Although he rooted for better jobs and opportunities, his lack of a work visa always kept him at a disadvantage. He took up various cash jobs until help came when Charna Halpern assisted him in securing a work visa. He later auditioned for Saturday Night Live but wasn’t cast. Acting Career

Thomas Middleditch’s move to New York City became a major springboard for his showbiz career. He began appearing in commercials; most notably is a 2007 sketch video which he, alongside Fernando Sosa, made for Chicken McNuggets that was bought by McDonald’s and used as their commercial. In 2009, Middleditch appeared as the lead character; Justin Frost, in the romantic comedy, Splinterheads. In March of the following year, 2010, he was drafted in a CBS pilot Hitched. In May of the following year, 2011, Middleditch appeared in the web series, Jake and Amir. He had roles in films like Being Flynn (2012), The Kings of Summer (2013) and he equally guest-starred on several TV shows.

In May 2011, Middleditch joined the cast of the Paramount Pictures’ comedy film Fun Size. In December of that year, he was cast in Jay Roach’s The Campaign, alongside Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis. In July 2012, Thomas joined the cast in the comedy film Someone Marry Barry and then appeared in the 2013 comedy fantasy film, The Brass Teapot.

Thomas Middleditch’s biggest moment came in January of 2013 when he was cast as the lead character, Richard Hendricks, in the HBO pilot series Silicon Valley.
