Thomas Rhett Akins Jr. was born on the 30th of March 1990 in Valdosta, Georgia to mother Paige Braswell and Singer Rhett Akins. Music had an influence in his life from an early age and he learned to play the drums while still in high school where he was a member of a band called The High Heeled Flip Flops. Rhett would oftentimes join his father onstage as his drummer.

Rhett attended college at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee and majored in communications. This was a confusing time for him because, besides music, he did not have a career choice in mind and only went to college because his friends did. When he was 20, Rhett dropped out of college to pursue music full time and he struck his first gold when he was approached by an executive from Big Machine Label Group while playing at a club. He was offered a publishing deal to write songs for the label, an offer which he accepted.

Rhett’s first album with Big Machine Group in 2011, spent 21 weeks in the top 40 of the Billboard 200 and has sold 1.7 million copies during its first years of release. His debut album titled It Goes Like This was released in 2013 and the singles Get Me Some of That and Make Me Wanna from the album became Rhett’s second number one single and number one on the Country Airplay chart respectively.

His second and third studio albums titled Tangled Up (2015) and Life Changes (2017) also produced hit singles that topped the charts at number one. The single from his Tangled Up album titled Die a Happy Man maintained a number one position on the Country Airplay chart for 8 weeks making it the second song in the chart’s history to achieve the same feat.

He was born on the 13th of October 1969 in Valdosta, Georgia and before he was a teen had already formed a band with his two younger brothers. He briefly attended the University of Georgia where he studied business before going to work for his father at his oil and gas distribution company.

Together with his wife Paige whom he married in 1989, they welcomed a son Thomas Rhett Jr., and a daughter, Kasey Lee three years after her brother. Rhett Sr. and his wife Paige have since been divorced.

Thomas Rhett met his wife Lauren while they were both in the first grade at elementary school and the couple went from sweethearts to husband and wife in October of 2012.

Lauren Gregory Akins was born on the 8th of November, 1989. She is engaged in various charities and philanthropy work and holds a nursing degree. She also owns a jewelry line that benefits Ugandan communities. Lauren and Thomas have known each other almost their entire lives and even went to church camp together. They briefly dated when they were 15 years old but the relationship didn’t last very long. Despite their differences, they remained best friends.

In 2017, the couple announced a new addition to their family – a daughter Willa Gray, a Ugandan national, who was adopted and brought home three months later.
