Who is Kevin Jonas?
Kevin Jonas was born Paul Kevin Jonas II in Teaneck, New Jersey, on November 5, 1987, to Paul Kevin Jonas Sr. and Denise Marie. His father is a songwriter, musician, and an ordained clergyman. Though born in Teaneck, Kevin, alongside his three younger brothers; Joe, Nick, and Frankie were raised in Wyckoff.
What we know as the musical group Jonas Brothers today began in early 2005, when Steve Greenberg, President of Columbia Records, first paid attention to one of Nick Jonas’ recordings. Thrilled by Nick’s voice, he listened to another track, Please Be Mine, sang by all three brothers, after which he signed them to a deal.
The Jonas Brothers went on to release their first album titled It’s About Time in August of 2006, however, the album did not sell as expected. Dampened by the little success, their record label lost interest in promoting them and so they were dropped early the following year. The trio went ahead to then join Hollywood Records in February 2007 as they began modeling. By August 2007, they released their self-titled second album which ranked high on the Billboard Hot 200 chart within its first week of release.
The following year, they released their third album, A Little Bit Longer, which reached the number 1 spot on the Billboard 200. June 2009 saw the release of their fourth album, Lines, Vines, and Trying Times which also rose to number 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 247,000 copies. On May 1, 2012, the Jonas Brothers parted ways with their record label and bought the rights to their music.
