The Nigerian Baptist Convention founded Bowen University on the 17th of July 2001. After they got approval from the Federal Government of Nigeria to establish the institution of higher learning, the National University Commission subsequently licensed it to operate as a full-fledged university in the country.

On the 22nd of August 2001, the university authorities (Nigerian Baptist Convention) inaugurated a Provisional Governing Council with Professor J.T. Okedara functioning as Vice-Chancellor while Mr. E. A. Lawale became the Registrar.

On the 4th of November 2002, academic activities commenced at Bowen University with just 500 students admitted into the existing faculties; Agriculture, Science Education, Science, and Social and Management Sciences. By 2017, Bowen could boast of 5,000 students, and the next year in 2018, it floated a radio station.

The Baptist founded institution of higher learning is located in the South-Western part of Nigerian, precisely at Iwo in Osun State. Acceptance Fee For Incoming Students at Bowen University

Compared to other Nigerian private universities of similar ilk, the acceptance fee payable at Bowen University is quite affordable. Candidates who have been offered provisional admission into the institution of higher learning are expected to pay the sum of N10,000 only as an indication of interest in the offer. The two modes of entry into Bowen are through UTME and DE (Direct Entry) and freshers from either of them are expected to pay an acceptance fee.

Rules About Payment at Bowen University

When it is about fee payment, Bowen University has different rules for different levels

  • Freshers (100 Level students) are required to deposit at least 70 percent of their total fee for the session before the expiration of the first two weeks of the first semester. With this, they can go ahead to do their course registration for the semester. The remaining 30 percent must be paid within the first couple of weeks during the second semester.
  • All returning students (200 to 500 levels) are expected to pay their full fees, including accommodation and conveniences.
  • The full fees for the returning students ought to be paid within the first couple of weeks of the second semester; this will enable them to do their course registration for the second semester.
  • Foreign students who are residents in Nigeria are expected to pay a 10 percent increment on the approved current fees. Foreign students who are resident outside the shores of Nigeria will pay a 15 percent increment on the approved current fees; this is applicable across all programs.
  • Students running clinical courses in Medicine and Surgery must pay up all relevant fees.
  • For whatever reason, Bowen University is not ready to entertain any fees refund of any form after students have made payment.
  • In the case of fees overpayment, the institution will credit the students’ accounts. Those that have not been utilized before graduation will be sorted out as the student graduates.
  • All students of Bowen University must complete their course registration for each semester on or before three weeks after the resumption. Course registration is dependent on the complete payment of all approved fees.
  • There is a penalty for those that will register after the expiration of the stipulated three weeks; the student will be charged five percent on his or her total outstanding fees, including a penalty of ₦5,000 which is tagged, late course registration fee.
  • Approved Cafeteria Services takes care of the feeding and the students Pay As They Eat (PATE).

How to Pay Fees At Bowen University

Making payment for tuition and other fees at Bowen University is easy, students of the tertiary institution can choose between completing payment online or just generating their transaction ID and proceed to any of the banks approved by the university. Payments of Bowen fees can be made by following these steps;

  • The portal address for the tertiary institution is https://eportal.bowenuniversity.edu.ng
  • Once you launch the portal, proceed to the “Student’s Portal” button and tap on it.
  • The page has a login button and you are expected to click on it.

For The Freshers (Incoming Students)

  • While processing their admission, new students provided their “Email” addresses on the admission portal; the same address should be imputed into the given field on the payment portal.
  • The provided space for “Password” should be populated with the same password used during the admission process.
  • Now, proceed to click on the “Log-in” button.

Important to note that any password used in the first log-in stage can only be temporary; once you are logged in, you must change it immediately.

For The Returning Students

  • “Username” for every returning student of Bowen University should be his or her “Matriculation Number”; this should go into the provided space.
  • In the column provided for “Password”, populate it with the matching password to your “Username”
  • Once the “Username” and “Password” are in place, proceed to tap on the “Log-in” button
  • All Students of the tertiary institution, both the new and returning ones are expected to click the button with “Back”; this will then redirect the user to the “Profile Page”

Every Student Must

  • Tap on the “Payment” button
  • Click on the button that says, “Proceed to Payment”
  • Tap on “Make Payment”
  • There is a provided space for the amount, enter the exact amount you wish to pay.
  • Choose the “Payment Method” preferred
  • Tap on the “Submit” button; this will take the user to the next page where you will generate the Transaction ID number.
  • Once the Transaction ID is generated, proceed to print it out
  • Now, navigate to the icon that says “Mode of Payment”; this is where you can select the preferred mode of payment.

EbillsPay

On the other hand, students who do not wish to pay through PayChoice can decide to make their payment through EbillsPay. If you fall under this category, you can do so by leveraging these steps.

  • 1st Step: Copy your generated transaction ID
  • 2nd Step: Visit any of the approved banks to effect the payment

Important to note that payment must be made using “Ebills”. Candidates are expected to take their generated Transaction ID along with them to the bank.

Steps to Take After Payment

After they have succeeded in making payment, students of the tertiary institution should de the following;

  • Go back to Bowen University portal to complete all other required processes
  • Once everything is in place, click “View Payment”
  • Select the “Payment Type” made
  • Click on the print button to get a printout of your payment receipt
  • With your payment receipt printed out, present it to the bursary for clearance

Every student of Bowen University should visit the university’s student portal to confirm their profile. If there is a need to make corrections or add new details, the affected students should leverage the edit button to do so.

Completing your fee payment online has proved to be very effective but some students would prefer to just generate a transaction ID online and go to the bank to complete payment. People who wish to go by this method should first find out the names of the banks and financial institutions that Bowen University is using for fee collection.

The institution often uses Sterling Bank and Skye (Polaris) Bank for students who wish to pay with cash or bank draft. Generally, Bowen accepts payments by both credit and debit cards.
