You Can Buy your Rain SIM Card in Over 260 Pargo Pick-up Points

Since partnering with Pargo, Rain has increased the number of locations where customers can pick up its SIM cards to over 260 inside Clicks stores. It is a number bound to keep rising as demands soar. These locations are spread around five provinces; Western Cape, North West, the Eastern Cape, Free State, and Gauteng.

To find the nearest participating Clicks store around you, head over to the Rain website at rain.co.za. Once you are there, click on ‘Pick Up a 4G SIM today.’ It will take you to the Pargo map. On the map, enter your location and hit the search button. You will find a list of the locations near you. After you find and get to the store, ask for a Rain SIM card at the Pargo counter.

You will be given a free SIM card, which you can activate at the store on your own on the Rain website. Afterward, you can choose your preferred data plan and start using your data only SIM. Note that once you activate the SIM, you will get seven free days of unlimited data.

How to Change your Rain SIM Card’s Internet or APN Settings

Typically, your Rain SIM card is a plug and play. Once you have activated it and subscribed to your preferred plan, you should be able to access the internet right away. However, for one reason or the other, this might not be the case, and you might need to do a little troubleshooting before you can explore the internet.

Chances are, especially if your device has network signal, the issue is your internet or APN settings. Fret not. You can solve the problem in a couple of easy steps.

For an Android Device

you can reconfigure your APN settings on an android device by

  1. Go to Settings, Wireless & Networks/More, Mobile network, Access Point Name (APN)
  2. Select New Profile or New APN
  3. Enter ‘rain’ as Profile Name
  4. Then enter ‘rain’ as APN
  5. Leave the username and password empty
  6. Save the newly created profile
  7. Once you are done, go back to Mobile Network
  8. Select Network Preferred Type and make sure the option that has LTE/4G is selected

For an iOS Mobile Device:

  1. Go to settings, Mobile data, Mobile Data network
  2. set the APN under Mobile Data to “rain”
  3. set the APN under LTE setup to “rain” (on the later versions of iOS)
  4. Leave the username and password empty
  5. Go Back to Mobile Data
  6. Select Mobile data options
  7. Select Voice and Data and make sure you select LTE/4G.

For a Windows 10 Mobile Device:

  1. Go to Settings, Network & Wireless, Cellular & SIM
  2. Select your SIM card under Cellular
  3. Select Properties
  4. Under Internet APN select Add an Internet APN
  5. Enter ‘rain’ as profile name
  6. Enter ‘rain’ as APN

For a Mobile or Fixed Router:

  1. Connect your phone to the router Wi-Fi
  2. Open your phone browser and connect to the router software by typing the following into the browser address line:
    • If you are using a Huawei router – http://192.168.8.1
    • A D-link, Telkom or ZTE router – http://192.168.0.1
    • A TP-Link router – http://192.168.1.1
  3. The address will load the router software homepage. Once you are there, log in using admin as username and password
  4. You can change the password to something you will remember easily. This username/password is when you want to log into the router software again.
  5. Click on Settings > Dial-Up > Profile Management.
  6. Select New Profile
  7. Enter ‘rain’ as profile Name
  8. Enter ‘rain’ as APN
  9. Save the Profile
  10. Make sure the new rain profile is selected
  11. You can now set up your personalized Wi-Fi log in username and password. You will use this username/password when you want to connect your phone/laptop/tablet to the router Wi-Fi.
  12. Click Finish. You can now log out and close the browser tab.
  13. If the device does not connect to the rain network automatically, restart the device and log in with the new Wi-Fi password you created.

For a Vodafone Device:

  1. Connect your phone to the router Wi-Fi
  2. Open a browser on your phone and enter http://VodafoneMobile.wifi in the browser address line or http://192.168.2.1
  3. The router software home page will display. Enter ‘admin’ as username and password
  4. Select Mobile Broadband Settings
  5. Click Connection
  6. Select the Dropdown Arrow on “Account Type” and select Custom
  7. input “rain” under IPV4/IPV6 APN
  8. And save the Profile
