Most people know that MLB star, Ben Zobrist, and his wife, Julianna, are currently embroiled in a divorce. Who is Julianna Zobrist?
Julianna Joy Zobrist (nee Gilmore) was born on the 5th of October 1984 in Orlando, Florida. Her father is a clergyman named Jeff while her mother’s name is Cheryl. The singer also has five siblings namely Liz, Rosie, Jeffery Paul, Caroline, and Jonathan. Zobrist grew up in Iowa City and fell in love with music as a child. She started taking voice and piano lessons, and also penned poetry.
The young girl, however, did not let her passion detract from her studies. She completed her diploma at Iowa City High School. She also studied commercial voice at Belmont University and obtained her degree in 2007. Julianna Zobrist formally commenced her music career in 2008, initially working in music management. She has since dropped two EPs, The Tree and Say It Now, as well as a full-length album titled Shatterproof. The Iowa native has won many fans with her eclectic brand of gospel music which incorporates elements of pop and electro.
Husband and Family
Julianna Zobrist was previously married to the star baseball player, Ben Zobrist. Equally the son of a pastor, Ben was born on the 26th of May 1981 in Eureka, Illinois. He played baseball at Eureka High School but was not considered by the scouts nor recruits. His fortunes, however, turned after he took part in an annual summer showcase. The young man was able to play college baseball and was eventually drafted into the MLB in 2004. Since then, Ben Zobrist has played for several teams and has won many accolades.
He is also a two-time World Series champion having won the coveted trophy in 2015 (with the Kansas City Royals) and in 2016 (with the Chicago Cubs). Zobrist and her husband first met through her brother-in-law, Dan Hefner, who was Ben’s college roommate. The two started communicating and thereafter embarked on a four-year courtship filled with chaste dates and long conversations about God, family, and baseball.
The couple eventually tied the knot on the 17th of December 2005 in Iowa City. Zobrist and her hubby enjoyed a blissful 13-year union during which they welcomed three beautiful kids namely Zion Benjamin (b. 2009), Kruse Allegra (b. 2012) and Blaise Royal (b. 2015).
The couple supported each other’s career, often posting pictures and congratulatory messages on social media. They also penned a joint autobiography titled Double Play: Faith & Family First (2014). The memoir chronicled Ben’s anxiety after being relegated to the minor leagues in 2007. The book also revealed that Zobrist had been sexually molested when she was just 12. Overall, the sheer beauty and harmony of the Zobrist family earned them a spot on the cover of Parade Magazine as the “All-American Family”.

Zobrist and her husband shared a deep Christian faith. They spoke of their faith publicly and attributed their success to God. The couple was also aware of the toil that the rigorous MLB season could have on their union. They, therefore, devised a plan where they did not spend more than six days apart in one instance.
All these were however not able to tame the tide of marital woes as the couple split in May 2019. Zobrist filed for divorce in Cook County, Illinois, while Ben filed for a legal separation in Williamson County, Tennessee. Zobrist did not reveal any reasons for the divorce. Her estranged husband, however, cited inappropriate marital conduct as the reason for filing.
The news of the divorce shocked their fans, many of whom took to social media to pray for the couple. Since then, Zobrist has maintained a low profile and has kept mum about the divorce. The most she has done is an inspirational post which she shared on her Instagram. In the post, the singer declared that she was still standing in the midst of the whole storm. She thanked fans for their support and promised to share her own side of the story someday.
