What Is Tawa Ajisefini’s Age Now?

Tawa Ajisefini was born on the 7th day of March 1982 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, so this would put her present age at 41 years. It seems life has been really kind to her and she has been blessed with a young-ish face, and could actually pass for a younger age than she actually is.

Though she grew up in Ibadan city where she was born, some records have it that her parents were originally from the neighboring Osun State. It is worth noting that both states were actually one and the same until Osun State was carved out from the old Oyo state on August 1991.

Tawa Ajisefini Was Born In Ibadan, Oyo State

Tawa Ajisefini has revealed that she was born in the ancient city of Ibadan, Oyo State – one of the largest ancient cities in West Africa – and that she spent her entire childhood in the state. For the protection of her family’s privacy, she has decided to keep their affairs private and has rarely put out any information about them.

She grew up with 3 older siblings and was the fourth and last child of her family. Those who know a little bit about her background have disclosed that she grew up in a middle-class family that had considerable resources and could afford to give her some of the best things she wanted growing up.

Unlike most of her colleagues in the entertainment industry that came from very humble backgrounds, and who saw the entertainment industry as their ticket to move from poverty into fame and fortune, Tawa’s motivation may have been out of pure love for the profession, or simply to attain fame and recognition in the industry.

Tawa Ajisefini Had All Her Education In Ibadan Where She Grew Up

As stated earlier, Tawa Ajisefini came from a financially secure family that could afford to give her some of the best things that life has to offer – the chief of which is a sound educational foundation. Her parents must have been well educated as they gave priority to her formal education, which is not a very common thing amongst actors in the Yoruba genre in Nollywood.

She had her primary school education at the Eleyele Police Children School in Eleyele, Ibadan, and also finished at the Our Lady of Apostle Secondary School, also in Ibadan, Oyo State. Since she had a burning desire and dream to become a notable actress someday, she took some time off her educational trajectory to enroll in the Ojopagogo Film School between 2005 to 2006.

After acquiring hands-on training in this famous film school, she decided to further her education by gaining admission into the University of Ibadan, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Arts.

Tawa Ajisefini Has Done Well For Herself In Nollywood

Tawa Ajisefini did not just take the Nollywood Industry by storm upon her entry into it, she had to pay the price by diligently learning from some of the best in the industry at that time. And having learned the ropes, she began to gradually ease her way into prominence and fame in the industry.

After graduating from the Ojopagogo Film School in 2006, she became a personal assistant to Funke Akindele – an actress known for playing the leading role of Jenifa in the popular television comedy series “Jenifa’s Diary,” for a few years until she was given a role in the same television series herself.

She has grown in leaps and bounds since then, and even though she is not at the peak of her career yet, she has put in a lot of work on several projects over the years.

List of Tawa Ajisefini’s Movies and TV Shows:

  • Atiko (2022)

  • Damilare (2022)

  • Jenifa’s Diary (2008)
  • Okun Ife Yi (2007)

It is worth mentioning that Tawa Ajisefini may have appeared in more movies than stated above. The fact that the entire Nollywood industry in Nigeria and each film production company does not have a well-detailed and documented database of their projects for future references, limits access to very valuable information about the industry and individual projects.

Who Is Tawa Ajisefini’s First Husband?

Nollywood as an industry opens up a lot of doors for its members. Wealth, fame, and international exposure are some of the benefits that the industry bestows on its members, and for some few others, it grants them the opportunity to marry amongst their peers or to have very influential and prominent people in the society court them till marriage.

As Tawa Ajisefini’s popularity began to increase as a result of her art and skills, one of the benefits that came from that was her relationship with the United States of America-based businessman named Mayowa Alii.

It is not exactly clear when Tawa and Mayowa met, but we know they got engaged sometime in the late 2010s. At the time, the actress took to her social media handles to let her fans in on her engagement to her heartthrob, Mayowa.

Her marriage ceremony eventually happened at a secret family event on February 14, 2019, according to Islamic rites, and she shared videos of her shedding tears of joy at the once-in-a-lifetime event.

So far, this is the only official marriage ceremony Tawa Ajisefini has had, of which she is very proud and hopes would last for the rest of her life. She has always used her social media handles to express her undying love for her husband, while also demanding absolute fidelity, loyalty, and dedication from him as well.

Tawa Ajisefini Has Had An Interesting Personal Life

Tawa Ajisefini has had a very interesting and somewhat controversial life, as most celebrities do, and her preference for social media to share certain events in her life has helped to bring some of these issues to the fore. Here are a few of the interesting events in her private life –

She Claims To Have Married As A Virgin

The modern and fast-paced life that we all live these days has eroded away some of the very traditional African values that our parents grew up with, but not with Tawa Ajisefini. One of these traditional beliefs that were especially common during the times of our grandparents and possibly parents was that of chastity and a wife marrying her husband as a virgin.

Tawa Ajisefini disclosed via her Instagram handle that she purposed in her heart not to be deflowered by any man other than her husband, and somehow praised herself to carry through with her resolve till her marriage night. This was quite a feat by her standards, especially since we live in a world where abstinence from pre-marital sex is not seen as an important virtue anymore.

Her chastity declaration was not accepted wholesomely by her fans and critics anyway as a few expressed disbelief in her claims, while others simply mocked her claims. The majority of those who commented on her post, however, praised her for taking this difficult decision to abstain from pre-marital sex in this present age and time.

There Are Rumors That Her Husband Has Another Family Abroad

Less than a year after Tawa Ajisefini’s wedding, a lady commented on one of her very many social media posts, informing her that her husband has a family in his base in the United States of America. He was exposed as having married an American and already had two children with her in the states.

However, Tawa did not dignify the lady’s accusations with a reply and the matter seemed to just fizzle out on its own. Whether she took this up with her husband or not is not clear, but those close to her claimed that it briefly caused a strain in their fledgling marriage at the time. She relocated to the USA shortly after her marriage, so this may have put to rest this rumor as no other issue has been revealed since then.

But recent events in their individual lives somehow suggest that there might be some unresolved issues in their marriage. Her husband posted some messages on his social media handle which showed him speaking with one of his daughters and ex-wife while also sending a cryptic message of looking forward to reuniting with his family soon.

Tawa Demands Absolute Loyalty And Commitment From Her Husband

Some time ago, Tawa Ajisefini caused a stir and heated debate on social media when she informed the world that since her husband met her as a virgin, she would call on “Adaabi” (some sort of god of vengeance belief that is very common amongst some people in the Yoruba speaking part of South Western Nigeria) to fight for her and against her husband if her cheats on her or desecrates their marriage vows.

She also went on to say that she would also use her Quaran – possibly against her husband if he cheats on her or sleeps around with other women. While some of her fans supported her, the majority of those who commented either castigated her or mocked her virginity claims.

The issue that most folks found discomforting with her radical position was because as a Muslim, her husband is entitled to marry more than one wife – provided he can take care of them sufficiently without favoring one over the other.

So many deemed her position anti-Islamic and selfish. many of her fans then advised her to rather concentrate her efforts on being a great wife and mother to her child, and not put a lock on her man’s preference to take more than one wife – should he deem it fit for his life.

The Actress’ Alleged Marriage To Lateef Adedimeji

Sometime between 2015 and 2016, the grapevine was rife with rumors that Tawa Ajisefini and one of her colleagues in the entertainment industry, Lateef Adedimeji, had secretly tied the knots. This began when wedding pictures of both of them surfaced online, and this seemed like a fairy tale wedding.

However, it turned out that the wedding picture of both Tawa and Lateef that had been put out in the public was actually some sort of advertisement for a movie written and produced by Tawa herself titled Omo Lile (The Last Assignment). Their beaming smiles and affectionate pose in the pictures had convinced a lot of people that their rumored wedding was real, and not some promotional material.

While it turned out that the rumored wedding between them was not real as both Tawa and Lateef had gone on to get married to their current spouses and settled down, there are some people who still believed that something was going on between both actors.

Some folks believed that Tawa Ajisefini and Lateef Adedimeji had some sort of romantic relationship going on between them for a while and that they actually almost made it to the altar to consolidate their union. On the other hand, another group of people believed that the alleged romance between both actors was just a fantasy illusion made only for the screen.

Does Tawa Ajisefini Have A Child?

Tawa Ajisefini’s marriage is about 4 years old and though she may have raised some dust and stirred up controversy along the way, her union with Mayowa Alii still stands strong to date.

In 2011, another veteran actress in Nollywood, Taiwo Mogaji, shared the good news that Tawa Ajisefini had just given birth to a baby boy in their base in Indianapolis, United States of America. Shortly after, the joyous mother also took to her social media handles to thank her fans and well-wishers for the outpouring of love and well wishes they’ve been showering on her since the birth of the bundle of joy.
