Orange Caramel was a three-member South Korean girl band that originated from the girl group, After School, created by Pledis Entertainment in 2010. They debuted with the single ‘Magic Girl’ on the 16th of June 2010 and dropped their first extended play titled ‘The First Mini Album’ on 21st June 2010. Who Were The Members of Orange Caramel?
Raina is a South Korean singer and songwriter who is popularly known as the former songster of the South Korean girl band, After School, and the former leader of its subgroup, Orange Caramel. Born as Oh Hye-rin on 7th May 1989 in Ulsan, South Korea, she made her debut with After School on 25th November 2009 with the release of the group’s second extended play, ‘Because of You’. Raina debuted with the After School subgroup, Orange Caramel with the release of the single, ‘Magic Girl’ on 16th June 2010. After releasing an R&B duet, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Sweetness’ with rapper San E on 12th June 2014, Raina further debuted as a soloist on 8th October 2014 with the release of her solo album titled ‘Reset’.
Prior to debuting with After School, she served as a barista at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and also auditioned with JYP Entertainment to become a rapper. She was also a former trainee at SM Academy. So far, she has released two single albums with many singles and collaborations including ‘Loop’, ‘Don’t Know’, ‘It’s Okay’, ‘Sugar and Me’ with San E, and ‘Glowing’ feat. Man Seong.
Nana is a South Korean singer, model, and actress who is well known as a former member of the South Korean girl band, After School, and its subunits, Orange Caramel and After School Red. She was born as Im Jin-ah on 14th September 1991 in Cheongju, South Korea. She is an alumna of Ochang High School, Cheongju and Seoul Institute of the Arts. Nana was unveiled as an original line up of After School along with her fellow Orange Caramel member, Raina in November 2009. She also debuted as part of After School subunits, Orange Caramel and After School Red in June 2010 and July 2011 respectively. Her singles and collaboration credits include ‘Eyeline’, ‘This Person’ with Dazzling Red, and ‘Just a Moment’ with Hello Venus.
Prior to becoming an Orange Caramel member, Nana participated in the 2009 Asia Pacific Super Model Contest. She is also a licensed makeup artist and a member of the Makeup Artists Association. As a model, she has walked the runway for many A-List fashionistas in several fashion shows including Tokyo Girls Collection fashion show and Park Yoon-yoo’s Seoul Fashion Walk S/S 2012. Nana has also modeled for top-notch brands like Juvis, Tokyo Girls Collection, and Japanese fashion show Girls’ Award. Her film, TV series and variety show credits include The Swindlers, The Good Wife, and Real Men: Female Special. She has also won many accolades for her acting prowess including Style Icon Awards, Asia Artist Awards, Korea Film Actors Association Awards, and Chunsa Film Art Awards.
Lizzy is the stage name of the South Korean singer and actress, Park Soo-ah who is also known as the lead songster, rapper, dancer, and youngest member of the South Korean girl group, Orange Caramel. She was born as Park Soo-young on 31st July 1992 in Busan, South Korea. She is a graduate of Post Modern Music from Kyung Hee University and was unveiled as a member of After School in March 2010. She went further to debut as Orange Caramel member in June 2010. Lizzy also debuted as a soloist in January 2015 with the release of a digital single, ‘Not an Easy Girl’. As an actress, her film, TV drama, and variety show credits include Love Forecast, Fates & Furies, Angry Mom, and Dead If Shot.
Why Did They Get Disbanded?
The Orange Caramel’s last performance to date was on 15th April 2016 when they performed at the SBS Cultwo Show Legend Concert at the Olympic Hall. They disclosed through an interview after the concert that they are still working on their music. However, Pledis Entertainment announced on 1st May 2018 that Lizzy has left After School following the expiration of her contract. They further stated categorically that even though she has left After School, she is still part of Orange Caramel who still has a possibility of a comeback in the future. Currently, Orange Caramel members are concentrating on their solo careers.
