Popularly known and addressed by fans as Zac Efron, Zachary David Alexander Efron is a Hollywood actor who rose to prominence following his outstanding performances in High School Musical series. Efron was born in San Luis Obispo, California, on the 18th day of October 1987. His parents are Jewish thus, his surname was taken from a biblical place name. Although his ethnicity is Jew, and Zac considers himself Jewish, he said he was raised in an agnostic household and they never practiced the religion during his childhood days.
His parents Starla Baskett, and David Efron worked at the same power station: his father as an electrical engineer and his mother as a secretary. After graduating from Arroyo Grande High School in 2006, he was offered admission at the University of Southern California but he never enrolled. Between 2001 and 2002, Zac enrolled and performed with a community Art school, Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts Santa Maria.

It was his father David who first saw the potentials in him and encouraged him to consider acting. Efron adhered to his father’s advice and during his High School day, he began working with The Great American Melodrama and Vaudeville theatre, taking singing lessons and appearing in theatre productions. The kid performed in Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up, The Music Man, Little Shop of Horrors, and Gypsy.
His teacher, Robyn Metchik would later introduce him to an agent in L.A who signed him to the Creative Artists Agency. In the early 2000s, he began getting minor roles in TV series such as The Guardian, Firefly, and ER. From 2004, he became a recurring character in the first season of the Summerland (a WB series), by the second season of the series, he was promoted to the main cast. In 2004, Zac starred as one of two autistic twins in Lifetime television film Miracle Run and was nominated for a Young Artist Award.
His breakthrough came in 2006 when he landed a role in the Disney musical franchise series High School Musical. In the film which has been described as a modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, Zac Efron played the role of Troy Bolton, a high school basketball player who finds himself in a state of conflict after he finds himself interested in participating in the school musical with Gabriella Montez, a girl from the scholastic decathlon team, played by Vanessa Hudgens. He reprised the role in High School Musical II and III which were released in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
His performance in the High School Musical series earned him the Australian Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for cutest couple alongside Vanessa Hudgens. The musical series was followed by another musical Hairspray which was released that same year, then 17 Again in 2009. Efron’s sexual orientation has been an issue for public debate for several years, as he has been rumored time and again to be gay. Back in 2010, there were speculations that he and his Neighbors co-star Dave Franco, were a romantic item.
None of the guys said anything about the rumor, except for Dave’s brother, James Franco who made fun of the tabloid article which instigated the rumor by making a screenshot of the article with the caption: “Effron and My brother, dating!!!!!! Congrats, boys! I’m so happy for you!!!”

Zac was linked with Baywatch co-star, Alexandra Daddario. According to People, a source revealed to it that the pair have been on and off since their time working together on the movie, however, it would seem those were rumors as he is currently dating Halston Sage, his former costar on neighbors
