The wedding was confirmed by one of the daughters of the Indimi clan. She posted a picture of Zahra on Instagram with a caption that read:

“I met this young girl many years ago and I was smitten by her cheekiness. Only years later down the line she is to become ours. My darling Zahra, you are an amazing young lady with so much to give. We have seen and conquered our mission.

“My prayer is for the two of you to have a beautiful marriage and life with plenty of little ‘Rahma’s running around) we are happy to have you as one of us. Good things are hard to get and the fight was worth it. We can’t wait.”

The introduction ceremony where the families of the bride and groom meet reportedly held on 18th November in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

It is also being reported that President Buhari desires the wedding ceremony be kept low-key. However, the extravagance of the groom-to-be has already caused a ruckus on social media.

He recently gifted his wife-to-be some Louis Vuitton boxes which had the inscription ZBI (Zahra Buhari Indimi) on them. The boxes are part of a wedding tradition in northern Nigeria. They are called Laife, usually filled with jewellery, shoes, bags, Dutch Wax, perfumes, lingerie, and much more.

Nonetheless, new reports allegedly state that President Buhari has called off the wedding indefinitely due to the extravagance of the gifts.

“But the whole media attention has changed everything now and the President is not happy,” a source told Nigeria Today.

The marriage was set to take place between 30th November and 4th December.
