Zedd’s Age and Early Life
Zedd was born on the 2nd of September, 1989 as Anton Zaslavski. You’re possibly wondering: how come the name Zedd? Well, he got the nickname during his school days when he had a classmate and friend with the same first name as his – Anton. They, therefore, decided to address each other by the first letter of their surnames. And so Zedd is simply the pronunciation of the letter “Z” which started Zaslavski. The added “d” is Zedd’s own style of making the nickname more unique. And then the Russian-German nationality? The talented music producer is German by descent but was born in Saratov, Russia. He, however, grew up in his hometown – Kaiserslautern, South-western Germany. This is because his parents had to leave Russia over religious issues when he was just three – they were Jews.
Zedd’s expertise in music didn’t come by accident. His parents both specialized in one area of music or the other. His father, Igor Zaslavski is a guitarist while his mother is a piano tutor. And so it’s no surprise that Zedd was already able to play the piano at four and drums at twelve. At the tender age of 13, that was in 2002, Zedd’s music career kicked off in earnest. He landed a job with Dioramic, a German death-core band under the signature of Lifeforce Records. He was subsequently inspired to go into electronic music after listening to a song by French electronic duo, Justice.
Eight years later, in 2010 Zedd left Dioramic and later in the year released his first original production, The Anthem. The song sold very well making it to the top on electronic charts. He also released another song, Shave It Up the same year under OWSLA record label. Two years later, he signed with Interscope Records and released his first studio album, Clarity. After this, he released several other productions both singles and remixes. He equally collaborated with other top artists including Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Paramore, and Eva Simon, among others.
Zedd released his second studio album True Colors in 2015. The following year, he released a collaboration with Riot Games for the year’s League of Legends eSports championship, Worlds. Later in the year, he produced a remix of DJ Snake’s hit song, Let Me Love You. 2017 saw his release of Stay with Alessia Cara, Get Low with Liam Payne, and The Middle with Maren Morris and Grey. His successes in the above productions later earned him 7th place on Billboard’s 2018 Billboard Dance 100. Later in the year, he released a single with Elley Duhe titled, Happy Now.
Zedd’s hard work has so far earned him numerous awards including International Dance Music Awards Best Break-Through Artist (2012), Grammy Awards’ Best Dance Recording (2014), ASCAP Pop Awards Most Performed Song (2014 and 2015), Latin American Music Awards Favorite Dance Song (2015), Billboard Music Awards Top Dance/Electronic Album (2016), MTV Clubland Award (2017), iHeartRadio Music Awards’ Dance Song of the Year (2018), among others.

Details of his ex-girlfriend – Selena Gomez and if he is dating anyone now
DJ Zedd has had romantic relationships with several famous celebrities. The loudest of them all so far was the 3-month fling with popular Hollywood singer/actress and Justin Bieber’s ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez. Zedd and Selena became a pair in 2015 during their collabo on “I Want You To Know”.
Their relationship was, however, a very rocky one fraught with controversies. Although Zedd is not the loudmouthed type when it comes to private matters, Selena Gomez’s fame busted their affair as loudly as possible. Rumors had it then that Selena was still very much into Justin Bieber at the time she was going out with Zedd. And so, Bieber’s fans made things really difficult for the duo, causing the affair to be shortlived.
After parting ways with Selena Gomez, Zedd was rumored to be dating The Vampire’s Dairies star, Nina Dobrev. However, none of the two publicly confirmed the affair before it faded away without much story to it. Since then, there is no news of Zedd’s subsequent relationship. Apparently, he is possibly single at the moment. Zedd currently lives in Los Angeles, United States.
