Anya Taylor-Joy’s Ethnicity, Nationality and Parents

Anya Taylor-Joy’s ethnicity is mixed, as she is part Argentine, English, Scottish, Irish, French, and Spanish – all inherited through her parent’s ancestry. Her nationality is British-American-Argentine. Anya is the last child of Dennis Alan Taylor and Jennifer Marina Joy, and she has five older siblings.

Anya is an Argentine, English, and American citizen all at once. She was born in the United States of America and spent some years in her native country Argentina before her family relocated to England when she was 6. She spent most of her formative years in England before returning to the United States to pursue her acting and modeling careers.

What Is Anya Taylor-Joy’s Ethnicity?

Anya Taylor-Joy’s ethnicity is a complicated mix of Argentine, English, Spanish, Irish, Scottish, and French. Her parents are of mixed ethnicity, and she naturally inherited being of mixed ethnicity herself at birth.

Anya’s father, Dennis, is an Argentine of English and Scottish descent. He is the son of a British father, and his mother is of Anglo-Argentine descent. Her father was living in Argentina at the time of her birth, and though she was not birthed in Argentina, she spent the first 6 years of her life in the country and only relocated with her family when she was 6.

Anya’s mother, Jennifer, on the other hand, is also of mixed ancestry too. Her father is English, while her mother is Spanish from Barcelona, Spain. Her father is an English diplomat who was stationed in Zambia in Africa, and her mother was born in Zambia and spent a few years of her life in the country before the family relocated or was recalled back to England.

Anya Taylor-Joy’s Nationality

Anya Taylor-Joy’s nationality is complex as she is actually a citizen of 3 countries all at once – she is American, Argentine, and British. Anya was born on April 16, 1996, in Miami, Florida, in the United States of America. She stated during an interview in 2022 on Drew Barrymoore’s show that her mother gave birth to her in America when they were not residents in the country but were merely visiting.

So by the United States jus soli nationality law, she is an American. Then her family returned home to Argentina after her delivery, where she spent the first 6 years of her life, and since her father is also Argentine, she also equally became an Argentine citizen. At 6, her family relocated to England, where she spent most of her formative years and thereby became a British citizen as well.

In fact, she can actually claim a fourth citizenship as being Spanish since her mother, Jennifer, is from Barcelona, Spain, but it is not on record that she identifies as being Spanish – though she speaks the language perfectly well. She spent her early years in England, and when her family relocated back to the United States, she got her big break in her career over there.

Who are Anya Taylor-Joy’s Parents?

Dennis Alan Taylor is Anya Taylor-Joy’s father, and he was a former banker by profession.  He spent a considerable number of years in England, where he was involved in business and some sort of trade while also doubling as a race champion for the country. He was previously married before he met Anya’s mother, and he had 4 children from that marriage.

Alongside his brother Juan, he had a very successful career in the Offshore racing circuit, where he won the UIM 3D World Championship in Catalonia, Italy, in 1987 – Oscar Rodriguez was in his team. Anya Taylor-Joy Parent’s Marriage and Their Immense Support For Her

There are no accurate records of when and where her parents met and got married, but it is believed to have happened sometime between the early to mid-1990s. Anya’s mother was her father’s second wife, having divorced his first wife in the late 1980s to early 1990s. That marital union produced 4 children who are all Anya’s older siblings.

The marriage between Dennis Taylor and Jennifer Joy produced 2 children – a son Damien Taylor, who is a professional golf coach, and Anya Taylor-Joy, who was born in 1996. Her parents were a huge source of encouragement and inspiration to Anya in her teens, as she was always the butt of all jokes and probably the most bullied child in her High school at the time.

Her parents supported her when she decided to quit school and instead pursue a modeling/acting career, as they received her letter written to them on the subject with an objective mind and words of their approval. Anya credits her parents as having a great influence on the woman that she has become today and the amazing career that she has had so far.

Her mother was always on her side whenever her peers in High School bullied her because of her very unique facial features, and she always encouraged her to look at the beauty within herself as the most important criterion in her life and not the outward beauty that the world sees or craves in others. She always lifted her child’s spirits whenever she was feeling down, and this greatly helped her overcome her challenges and despair as a teenager.
