The Presbyterian University College, Ghana, is a private/public institution established in the year 2003 by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and granted accreditation the same year. The university was inaugurated on the 27th of March, 2004, by then-President John Agyekum Kufuor and it is located at Abetifi-Kwahu in Ghana’s Eastern Region. Among the best-ranked private universities in Ghana, Presbyterian University College has about five major campuses: Okwahu (Abetifi), Asante Akyem (Agogo), Akuapem (Akropong), Tema, Kumasi and has an affiliation with The University of Ghana, and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

General Admission Requirements Into Presbyterian University College

The general academic requirements of prospective students of the Presbyterian University College are:

Senior high school graduates must possess at least credits (A1-C6 in WASSCE and A-D in SSSCE) in English, Mathematics and Integrated Science (for science applicants) or Social Studies (for non-science applicants) and three elective subjects in General Arts, Business, Science, Vocational with a total credit aggregate not exceeding 30.

Science students should also have at least a grade C6 in WASSCE/D SSSCE in Social studies/Life Skills and Non-Science applicants should also have at least a grade C6 in WASSCE/D in SSSCE in integrated science/core science.

How To Apply For Admission Into The Presbyterian University College

Prospective students can apply for admission through either completing an online or offline application process.

Online Application

Applicants are to follow these steps in applying online.

Purchase an e-Voucher from any branch of the following banks:

The e-Voucher costs GHS 100.00 for Ghanaian (Local) students and $100.00 for Non-Ghanaian applicants (international students). It can also be purchased via the VISA and MTN mobile money.

Go to the payment window and enter this information: applicant’s name, working email address, and valid mobile number (foreign students are to add their country’s international prefix and ensure the number is a valid MTN mobile money subscriber).

Submit and wait for a PIN and serial number. These would be sent either to the provided mobile number as a text message) or the email address.

Steps to complete the online application form

  1. Go to the application window
  2. Enter the e-Voucher’s PIN and serial number
  3. Fill the online form, ensuring that you enter all the required information correctly
  4. Upload all supporting documents, as requested
  5. Complete your application by clicking on the submit button

NOTE:

Applicants can pause their application until a later time and may edit or add to the application as desired. All that’s required to log in to the application window is the e-Voucher’s PIN and serial number.

It is highly important that all entered information and uploaded documents are cross-checked to be true and accurate during the application process. The documents to be uploaded include the applicant’s passport and birth certificate or baptismal card.

Once an application is submitted, it can’t be modified or edited.

Offline Application

Prospective students can purchase the application form from any of the five campuses of the university at the rate of GHC100.00 for Ghanaian (local) students and $100.00 for Non-Ghanaian (international) applicants.

A PDF version of the form can also be downloaded here. Applicants who utilize the PDF version are expected to add a bank draft of GHC100.00 to the forms. This bank draft is to be paid to the Presbyterian University College, Ghana.

The Presbyterian University College Residential/Hostel Charges

The college’s residential charge for non-Ghanaian (international) students per annum is between USD300.00-USD 400.00.

Students are required to pay their fees at once and complete session payment at the start of the first semester attracts a 5% reduction. However, there is a concession for installment payment, for both Ghanaian and international students as follows.

  • 60% before the commencement of mid-semester examination
  • 40% before the commencement of examination
