Cathy Mohlahlana Started Her Journalism Career In College

Cathy launched her career in her first year at Wits University before she was discovered by Radio 702. She started as an online copywriter and was subsequently promoted to radio anchor. Cathy continued showcasing her talent in the university’s radio station until Radio 702 offered her full-time employment. She was offered the position of reporter and radio anchor for the station’s Eyewitness News.

Also, she briefly worked for Kaya FM while she was at Radio 702. Cathy revealed that this time prepared her by helping her grow as a journalist and as an individual. In her words, she said that being given the opportunity to report and cover the kind of stories she has was a huge break, and thus, she learned a lot and subsequently developed her skillset.

She resigned from radio 702 and got employed at eNews Channel Africa (eNCA) where she worked till March 2019. Cathy Mohlahlana made big strides at eNCA and got herself established as one of the most professional broadcasters in the country. Even though she is no longer one of the eNCA presenters, Cathy Mohlahlana is still remembered and well-known by many as an eNCA presenter. At Newzroom, Cathy hosts the daily show Newz@Prime that airs between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm, and Editor’s Choice every Sunday morning. Cathy said that one of the most beneficial experiences she has had in her life was when she was taken on a fellowship in the United States. It afforded her the privilege to meet all the anchors of CNN and see how it is at such a large-scale operation.
