In the Nigerian entertainment arena, we have seen a number of power couples that have come and gone, however, Simi and Adekunle Gold are some of the few who exist in the entertainment scene, and from the look of things, their relationship is waxing stronger with time.
Like most celebrity couples, Adekunle Gold and Simi hid their relationship from the media for a very long time. Nonetheless, their marriage was a welcome surprise to the fans of the two stars who admire the duo as lovers and musical collaborators.

The love story of Simi and Adekunle Gold is one that goes as far back as when their careers were at the budding stage. From all indications, both singers started to date in 2014 but had decided to keep their relationship under wraps. For the most part of their relationship, they had hidden the fact that they were dating and even when asked in interviews about their significant other, none of them revealed the identity of who they were dating.
Although in one interview, AG Baby revealed that he was in a relationship with a woman in the music industry but he was not going to divulge anything on who his girlfriend is as she did not wish for people to know her identity. Simi also presented the same narrative on several occasions when she was asked about her boyfriend. It was not until 2018, after 4 years of what can be best described as an on and off relationship that they admitted to dating each other.
Their Wedding Was Also A Secret Affair
In their usual fashion of secrecy, this celebrity couple tied the knot on the 9th of January, 2019. The couple had a very private ceremony that had in attendance very few of their friends and family members. The public only got to know with the release of their song, ”Promise”. The song’s video featured scenes from the wedding with Adekunle Gold and Simi dancing and from the video, it is speculated that they had a beach wedding or reception.

One can say that the best work that Adekunle Gold and Simi have made together is their daughter, who is an integral part of their lives as they have both shown. The trending single, ”Duduke” which was released by Simi to welcome her baby is also proof of this with the massive success it has recorded. However, prior to the birth of their child, the two superstars are known for how well they make music together. The combination of their strong skills as songwriters and singers have resulted in the release of songs that do not just have uplifting lyrics but are equally as entertaining.
Some of the songs they have worked on together are ”No forget” which was AG Baby’s song featuring Simi, ”Take me Back” is Simi’s song that featured Adekunle Gold. ”By You” is another song by Simi that features her husband. ”Bites the Dust” is from Simi’s latest album and he was also on this song. For the superstars, being married did not change things drastically with regards to their career as the duo have always had a very good working relationship over the years. They have both collaborated on a number of songs either in the capacity of a songwriter or for Simi who works as a sound engineer, there is no doubt that she has lent those skills to the advancement of her husband’s career. She is even credited for producing some of the songs in Adekunle Gold’s first studio album, ”Gold” back in 2016. It’s actually obvious that they have been in each other’s lives for the entirety of their individual careers and it is only safe to say that they have rubbed off each other and set themselves apart in their respective pursuits.
There have also been talks of the music power couple’s joint album. These speculations began to spread in January 2019 – the same month they got hitched. Incidentally, as talks of a collab album were being circulated, that was when they dropped their single, ”Promise” to announce their wedding and this only strengthened the rumors.
Although the pair are yet to confirm these speculations, the possibility of such a collaboration happening in the future can not be ruled out. Adekunle and Simi would definitely thrill their fans if they embark on such a project as both of them have very unique talents which they have been able to blend perfectly in their past collabos for which they won the award for best collabo in 2018. They might also join the trend of other popular power couples in the entertainment industry like Beyonce and Jay-Z whose joint album, ”Everything Is Love” in 2018 became a hit globally.
