His Radio Career Journey Was Inspired By His Mother
According to the talented radio personality, his inspiration to go on the radio can be traced back to his budding years under the care of his mother. She loved to listen to the radio and would play it always in their house. This eventually had a great impact on Pastor Nozewu’s life as he began to fall in love with broadcasting from that tender age. More so, when the likes of CKI FM DJs were invited to his matric, the young Nozewu was convinced that being on the radio is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
In 1997, Nozewu went to Thuthuka Casting in Johanessburg to study an audio-visual communication course. He also completed his radio presenting studies in 1997 and the next year, rounded up his studies in radio production at the Classic FM Radio Institute. DJ Pastor then volunteered at C.K.I. FM’s youth station where he served for a year then ended up with a 5-year contract with the station. The station has evolved over the years to be known as Tru FM, Radio C.K.I. but it currently goes by the name SABC.

More so, at the prestigious M.T.N. radio awards, his show – Breakfast Eyondlayo Ekuseni (BEE) landed the title of the Best Breakfast Show. The next year, Nozewu graduated with a degree in Public Relations after studying at the Boston City Campus, and Umhlobo Wenene FM employed him in 2009 to work as a Content Producer and Anchor for their morning show.

More so, he showed interest in having a podcast and went on to establish himself on YouTube where his song mix was uploaded. DJ Pastor also revealed that one needs to be versatile and daring to try out new things in life which is a lesson he learned during the lockdown period in 2020. That period eventually prompted him to launch his record label named, Umdabho Entertainment. The OAP runs commercial adverts, radio production, music production and manages various artists via his record label.
