Joe Bonamassa was born as Joseph Leonard Bonamassa in Utica, New York on 8th May 1977, to his parents Len and Debra Bonamassa. He has a sister whose name is Lindsey Bonamassa.  The talented guitarist is a holder of American nationality and belongs to the Italian ethnical background. He began to play the guitar at the age of 4. Seeing his potentials, his father encouraged him to seek a career in music. Joe Bonamassa was greatly influenced by the exceptional works of the British blues-rock records of legendary Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, all thanks to his father who has been the backbone of his music career right from the get-go and also put him under the tutelage of the great American guitarist Danny Gatton at the age of 11. While still in school, the talented guitarist formed his own band ‘Smokin Joe Bonamassa’. He was 12 at the time and toured Western New York and Pennsylvania on weekends because of his weekday school activities.

In 1989, the amazing guitarist started pursuing his professional music career by performing on stage with B.B. King. Similarly, he joined the band called Bloodline which was formed by the sons of other musicians namely; Robby Krieger, Berry Oakley and Miles Davis – he was 18 years old at this time. The gifted musician dropped his first studio album titled ‘A New Day Yesterday’ in 2000. The album comprised of some original tunes and covers of artists such as Jethro Tull and Rory Gallagher which went on to gain the number 9 spot on the Billboard Blues Charts. From 2002 to 2006, Bonamassa’s three studio albums clinched number 1 on the Billboard Blues Charts and likewise, all his five solo studio albums were among the top 10.

In addition, the talented singer further realized his childhood dreams of performing at the Royal Albert Hall in London when he did a duet with the legendary Eric Clayton at the aforementioned hall in 2009. A few years later, he performed his first full acoustic concert for the first time in his career with the aid of his producer, Kevin Shirley. Almost soon afterwards, he collaborated with the singer Beth Hart to release many successful albums including the sensational Seesaw album that clinched the Grammy Award nomination in the Best Blues Album category. Bonamassa has gone ahead to cite Jethro Tull, Eric Clayton, Mick Abraham, Texas Flood album by Steven Ray Vaughan and Irish Four and Goodbye by Cream album from Rory Gallagher, as his musical influences.
