Pastor Enoch Adeboye Net Worth: Is He The Richest Pastor In Nigeria?

Pastor Enoch Adeboye has a net worth estimated between $65 million to $80 million. He is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and one of the most renowned clerics in Nigeria.

Apart from being one of the most adored, admired, and respected pastors in Nigeria, Enoch Adeboye is also one of the richest pastors in the world. He made the bulk of his money from the growth of his church as well as the other businesses and investments he has made over the years.

A Brief History Of How Enoch Adeboye Became The General Overseer Of RCCG

Contrary to what some may think, Pastor Enoch Adeboye is not the founder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). The church was founded in 1952 by Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi who led the church to experience some growth until his death in 1980. Before he died, Rev. Akindayomi personally picked Adeboye as his replacement.

Pastor Adeboye joined the church in 1973. He was a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, at the time. When he become a member of RCCG, he initially worked as one of the interpreters who translated Akindayomi’s sermons from Yoruba to English.

Eventually, Enoch Adeboye was ordained as a pastor of the church in 1975. In 1980, the founder of the church, Akindayomi, died, and Adeboye was chosen as the new leader of the church. His appointment as the leader of the church was formalized by the posthumous reading of Akindayomi’s sealed pronouncement in 1981.

Since he became the leader of the RCCG in 1981, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has led the church to great heights and exponential growth. From having only a few thousand members, the church now has over 5 million members and is present in about 80 countries.

The church has been described as ‘one of the most vigorously expansionary religious movements in Africa’, making Pastor Adeboye one of the most successful clerics on the continent.

This figure is massive but it is justifiable, considering his status as one of the biggest figures in religious growth in Africa.

Adeboye’s net worth was built over so many years of solid work in building one of the most recognized churches in the world. But is he the richest in Nigeria at the moment? Let us find out.

Where Does Pastor Adeboye Rank Among The Richest Nigerian Pastors?

With his net worth estimated to be between $65 million and $80 million, Pastor Enoch Adeboye is obviously very rich. However, he is not the richest Nigerian pastor at the moment. There are other top Nigerian pastors who are reportedly wealthier than Adeboye.

From our findings, the richest pastor in Nigeria at the moment is Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder and president of the Living Faith Church International, one of the most popular churches in Africa. Oyedepo is reportedly worth an estimated $200 million, making him way richer than Pastor Adeboye.

The second richest Nigerian pastor at the moment is Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the founder and President of LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy. Pastor Oyakhilome’s net worth is estimated to be about $126 million also placing him far ahead of Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

Pastor Adeboye comes third behind Pastors David Oyedepo and Chris Oyakhilome. These three men have been among the most renowned clerics in Nigeria for many years and are highly respected in Nigeria and around the rest of the world.

Church Offerings and Tithes

As we have said, Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s church is one of the biggest churches in the world and rakes in a massive amount of money from tithes and offerings every time the church gathers. The headquarters in Lagos has an average church attendance of 100,000 at every meeting and the church has about three or more meetings every week around all branches. At each of these meetings, offerings and tithes are given, and, from estimations, several millions of naira are collected at every church gathering.

Some very wealthy Nigerians worship at RCCG. We know this because in 2013, at the 61st annual convention at the expansive Redemption Camp, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Enoch Adeboye asked ten church members to donate N1 billion to be used in building a new auditorium stretching three kilometers in length and breadth. He also asked others to donate N100 million and others to donate N50 million, and so on.

Apparently, the cleric tasked his members to donate based on what he knows they could do and how wealthy they are. With over 5 million members in about 80 countries around the world, it is clear that huge amounts of money are donated during services all over the globe and this flows to the headquarters of the church in Lagos.

Of course, Pastor Adeboye does not take all the money that comes in as tithe and offering for himself. However, he gets paid from the money realized through the offerings church members give during services, just as other pastors in the church also get paid.

In 2017, the pastor once revealed that when he took over as the General Overseer of RCCG, the church had very little money. In fact, he explained that the money the whole church was making at the time was less than his salary as a lecturer at Lagos State University, and it was to be shared between 39 people, including himself. However, over the years, he led the church to a huge expansion, and now there is more than enough.

RCCG Owns A University

In 2005, the Pastor Enoch Adeboye-led Redeemed Christian Church of God established a private university in Ede, Osun State, Nigeria, called Redeemer’s University. Since its establishment, the university has achieved some milestones, including the accurate diagnosis of the first case of Ebola in Sierra Leone and Nigeria in the 2014 EVD outbreak.

Redeemer’s University has become popular in Nigeria over the years and has apparently contributed massively to the inflow of income to the church and Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s net worth.

RCCG Also Owns Secondary Schools

Apart from owning a private university, the RCCG, led by Pastor Enoch Adeboye also owns secondary schools from which income is realized. The church owns Christ The Redeemer’s Int’l Secondary School, a mission school, and Redeemer’s High School, a private mission school that is also a co-educational comprehensive secondary school.

According to reports, the vision for the establishment of both schools was that of Pastor Adeboye, who wanted to create something unique that would give children the opportunity to study in an environment free of cults and full of vibrant ideas to turn them into world-class scholars.

How Pastor Adeboye Spends His Money

Pastor Enoch Adeboye is known to be a very humble man who does not show off any acquisitions as he is only focused on preaching the gospel. However, over the years, he has noticeably made some acquisitions that have caught the eye of the public. Some of these acquisitions include private jets and cars.

Pastor Adeboye’s Private Jets

A number of private jets have been linked to Pastor Enoch Adeboye over the years and they include:

$65 Million Gulfstream G550 Luxury Jet

In 2015, news emerged that Pastor Enoch Adeboye had purchased a Gulfstream G550 luxury jet. According to the reports, the pastor took delivery of his brand-new jet in May 2015. The reports further said the jet cost the pastor $65 million.

Pastor Adeboye’s Gulfstream G550 luxury jet was said to have been manufactured in Savannah, Georgia State, in the US, in 2013. Although the acquisition was done quietly, the reports of the pastor taking delivery of the jet were made public by Sahara Reporters. The jet was supposed to be used to covey Pastor Adeboye and other RCCG pastors around the country for the sake of evangelism.

Gulfstream GIV

Before acquiring the Gulfstream G550 luxury jet, Pastor Enoch Adeboye was initially using another private jet. According to Sahara Reporters, the pastor owned an older Gulfstream GIV with tail number N707EA. The aircraft was used to ferry him around the world on his preaching missions.

However, with the arrival of the newer Gulfstream G550 luxury jet, the pastor was said to have jettisoned the Gulfstream GIV jet.

He Had A Helicopter

In 2020, Pastor Enoch Adeboye reportedly acquired a helicopter. According to Sahara Reporters, the helicopter was purchased in September 2020 for the purpose of ferrying Pastor Adeboye and other officials of the church across the world for the preaching of the gospel. The helicopter had the registration number 5NEAA.

However, trouble loomed in April 2021 when the helicopter was suspended from flying by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). It was stopped from flying over alleged expired documents and spare parts which needed to be replaced. It is not clear if the spare parts were later bought or not.

However, what we know is that in September 2021, the pastor reportedly sold off the helicopter. The aircraft was sold because of the huge cost of maintenance. According to reports, the total cost of maintaining the helicopter for a single month was about $300,000 (N123 million). This was a little too much. Also, it was revealed that the managers of the aircraft charged $50,000 (N20 million) monthly for Nav charges. These huge charges for maintaining the aircraft pushed the pastor to sell off the helicopter in September 2021.

Emmanuel Aviation

In 2015, when news emerged that Pastor Enoch Adeboye had purchased a new Gulfstream G550 luxury jet, it was also revealed that he had floated a new airline or luxury jet company called Emmanuel Aviation. In fact, it was revealed that the Gulfstream G550 luxury jet’s arrival coincided with the pastor’s floating of Emmanuel Aviation.

According to SaharaReporters, the aviation company had already been in existence since 2009; however, it finally just unveiled a website to announce its swanky fleet and aviation services in 2015. The reports also claimed that sources who were familiar with the purchase of the Gulfstream G550 luxury jet said Pastor Adeboye personally owns Emmanuel Aviation and that both the Gulfstream G550 luxury jet and the older Gulfstream G550 luxury jet were registered to the airline in the US and Nigeria.

Cars

We are not completely sure of the exact kind of cars Pastor Enoch Adeboye has bought over the years. However, many reports have claimed that the popular cleric is the owner of a Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen which is worth about $100,000. He is also reported to own a bulletproofed Rolls-Royce Phantom that is worth about $400,000.

The pastor is also said to be the owner of a Land Rover Discovery that is worth about $80,000. Other cars have also been linked to the cleric who does not like to show off his acquisitions.

Real Estate

According to SaharaReporters, apart from owning a jet company, Pastor Adeboye’s RCCG also owns large real estate properties along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. However, take note that at this moment, it is not entirely clear if the pastor himself has a personal stake in the sprawling real estate properties in the area.
