Victoria Osteen is an American Televangelist, author, speaker and co-pastor of the Houston-based Lakewood church; one of the largest congregations in the United States today, averaging about 52,000 attendees weekly. Together with her husband, Joel Osteen she oversees the various arms and activities of the ministry including its four English-language services and two Hispanic services every week.
The former jewelry dealer is also a happy mum of two and continues to serve as a Christian matriarch for fellow women in the United States and all over the world.
Victoria Osteen’s Age and Background History
Victoria Osteen was born—Victoria Iloff—in Huntsville, Alabama, the United States on March 28, 1961, to parents Donald and Georgine Illof. Her father, Donald, was a mathematician with General Electric company and also served as a deacon in the Church of Christ; a relatively conservative denomination in the US.
Her mother, Georgine, works as a Jeweller and also taught Sunday school classes in the family church. In 1963, little Victoria moved to Houston, Texas with her family when her father began working with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Consequently, Victoria spent the greater part of her formative years in the southern suburb of Houston, not so far from the Manned Spacecraft Center—currently called the Johnson Space Center. Growing up, Osteen attended the University of Houston where she studied Psychology, although she never graduated from there.
So far, Osteen hasn’t revealed the reason behind her not graduating from Houston. But we know that she was working in her mother’s jewelry business at the time she was schooling and long after. The business not only earned Osteen an income, but it also earned her a mate.
What to Know About Her Husband, Joel, and Their Children
The very beginning of what would be the Osteens family began way back in 1985 when Victoria and Joel first locked eyes. She was working at her mom’s jewelry store in Houston when Joel walked in to have a wristwatch battery changed. It wasn’t love at first sight as the soap operas show. In fact, the duo hadn’t the faintest idea that they were meant for each other. But they began a friendship anyway; which soon morphed into a full-blown relationship.
The lovebirds had their first date in a church —what do you expect of preachers’ kids. And on April 4, 1987, after two years of dating, they exchanged marital vows. So far, their union is blessed with two adult children—a son they christened Jonathan Osteen (b. on April 20, 1995); and a daughter, Alexandra Osteen (b. November 9, 1998).
Like their parents, Jonathan and Alex are also active in their parents’ ministry. Jonathan sings on the church’s band group and has organized several music concerts; while Alexandra often caps up his concert by singing A Night of Hope. The two have been famed as well-behaved, talented kids who also feature in Lakewood Church’s televised services. Judging from their involvement so far, there have been speculations that they are being groomed to fit into their parent’s shoes.
Victoria Osteen’s Net Worth
No credible source has revealed the exact details about Victoria Osteen’s net worth. However, we know that her husband, Joel Osteen, is reportedly worth between $40–60 million. Sources also reveal that the Osteens do not have any cut in the church’s annual budget of over $70 million. But they rely on income from book sales which must be quite sizeable, considering the volumes of books “The First Couple of Televangelism” have written and sold all over the world.
Victoria Osteen, her husband, and their two children reside in a 17,000 square-foot mansion worth $10.5 million, in River Oaks, Texas. According to sources, the mansion has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, three elevators, five fireplaces, a guest house, and a pool.
