Life was a bit tough for the musician in his early days. He attended Citizen Comprehensive College in Epe, Lagos, and Jibril Martin Memorial Grammar School in Iponri. Patrick always sustained his interest in music and thus began performing at carnivals under the moniker Patoranking. He achieved this by combing the first few letters of his first name Patrick with the name of a Jamaican artist Ranking.
Patoranking’s music career kicked off with a few low key collaborations with the likes of X-projects and Slam. Even though his first single “So Nice” which came to light in 2009 didn’t make waves, the artist still kept hope alive. He persevered till May 2012 when he featured Qdot and Kaj on his second single, “Iya Bisi”. In 2013, one year after he dropped “Iya Bisi”, Patoranking came into contact with Timaya and the two worked together to release the hit song, “Alubarika”. The next year, Patrick went on to sign with Foston Records through which he released the single “Girlie O”.
