The K-pop star opened her personal Instagram account in June 2018, meaning she and her fans achieved this feat in less than a year!

Who Is Lisa from BLACKPINK?

Lisa was born on March 27, 1997, in Buriram Province, Thailand, where she was also raised. She is the only child of her Swiss step-father and her Thai mother. Lisa’s step-father is Marco Bruschweiler, a chef who is recognized by the World Association of Chefs Societies as a Swiss Diploma Master Chef. Currently, Marco Bruschweiler is running a culinary school in Bangkok, specializing in Thai cuisine and also organizing Thai, Vegetarian, and Swiss food festivals worldwide. Also, he is often invited to national and international culinary competitions in Bangkok and the greater Asian region.

Born Pranpriya Manoban, her friends gave her the nickname Pockpack. She later changed her name to Lalisa after a fortune telling; Lalisa means ‘the one who is praised.’ Lisa was in a dance crew at a young age before she auditioned to become a K-pop idol trainee. Besides Thai, Lisa speaks Korean—which she started to learn after moving to South Korea in 2011, English, Japanese, and basic Chinese. Although she raps and sings, it is the “focused camera” recordings of Lisa’s dancing, a combination of smooth body rolls, sharp hits, and captivating facial expressions, that often become the subject of Blackpink’s viral videos.

While Blackpink has already been on the scene for a few years, Lisa has yet to launch any solo musical projects. She has, however, featured on the cover of Nylon Japan magazine and filmed a special preview video for the issue, in which she spoke in fluent Japanese. Lisa was only 14 years old when she auditioned to become a trainee with South Korea’s YG Entertainment and made her debut as a member of Blackpink when the group launched in 2016. Blackpink made K-Pop history with their Coachella 2019 performance. Booking a berth at Coachella is no mean feat and not only did Blackpink managed to get the gig, but they also changed history by becoming the first female K-pop group to perform at the festival.
