If the name Danny Koker doesn’t draw your attention or ring a bell from the Las Vegas-based band Count’s 77, then History Channel’s Counting Cars should do the magic. A car aficionado, self-taught mechanic and TV personality, Koker is best recognized as the star of the reality TV show Counting Cars.
Here are interesting facts you should know about the autodidact and self-made millionaire who mastered his craft by himself without any formal education.
Bio (Age) and Rise to Fame
Danny Koker was born Daniel Nicholas Koker II on 5 January 1964, in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. His father (Daniel Koker Sr.) was a successful musician, singer, and composer, who worked alongside big industry names such as the Foggy River Boys, The Cathedral Quartet, Oakridge Boys, CL Franklin, Mahalia Jackson and many more. A natural born entertainer and talented vocalist, Danny Koker Jr apparently followed in the same footsteps and began performing before audiences on-stage from a tender age.
Prior to his fame as a car aficionado, Koker was part of the band Count’s 77 which had other musicians including guitarist Jony Zito, guitarist Stoney Curtis, bassist Barry Barnes, and keyboardist Tommy Paris. The band released their self-titled debut album in August 2014, under the label Shrapnel Records. Being the band’s lead singer, Koker gained popularity after their first album and tours across the USA. The band released another album Soul Transfusion in March 2017 and remains active to date as they often perform at Koker’s Las Vegas rock club Count’s Vamp’d.
Koker was raised in a family of automobile enthusiasts as most of his relatives worked for the Ford Motor Company. It is, therefore, no surprise that he developed a flair for automobiles at an early age. Danny taught himself all the car basics and nitty-gritty of the automotive industry. He soon mastered the art and began fixing cars and motorcycles in his vehicle restoration and repair garage ‘Count’s Kustoms’.
With a reputation for using the best and high-quality materials to build good value cars and trucks, the shop became popular and drew attention to Danny who began making appearances as an expert on reality TV series such as History Channel’s Pawn Stars and American Restoration. After 15 years of running his restoration and customization business, in August 2012, Danny launched his own TV show called Counting Cars. The show which the car expert wrote and produced chronicles him and his team fixing and refurbishing cars. Being the design mastermind behind Counting Cars, it was a huge success.
Not only does Danny have a car repair shop, he is also the owner of a restaurant and venue dedicated to rock music, called Count’s Vamp’d Rock Bar and Grill as well as a tattoo parlor called Count’s Tattoo Company in Las Vegas. Being an automobile freak, Danny has an extensive collection of cars with about 58 cars and 78 motorcycles including high-performance exotic cars, sports cars, and hot rods.
Wife and Kids, Is Danny Koker Married?
Danny Koker is married to Korie Koker, his success pillar and business partner of over 15 years. Danny loves to keep details of his family under wraps, and not much is known about his wife and kids. A woman with a rock star’s style, Korie Koker is a graduate of broadcasting and the co-owner of Danny’s restaurant ‘Count’s Vamp’d Rock Bar and Grill’. As the manager who schedules live music performances, Korie is the talent buyer for the business.
Though the couple co-own the business, it is Korie who oversees the management of the bar and grill which features a professional stage for live band performances, two separate dining areas for live music experiences and hangouts for just private meal enjoyments. Danny and Korie have always had a good working relationship as business partners. According to Korie, Danny just ‘generally backs her play’ as he trusts her judgments so well, allows her to make important decisions and even have the last say in the business.
While it is uncertain if the couple has any kids together, it, however, seems unlikely as they have never been seen nor linked to any. Danny and Korie remain happily married and dedicated to rock and roll.
Is He Dead?
There have been rumors about Danny Koker’s death. The queries and confusion surfaced after Koker’s dad whom he shares the same name with passed on. Thankfully, the car expert is still alive and continues to go about his business.
