At the conclusion of Buhari’s Ramadan fast, the Nigerian president entertained the physically challenged, internally displaced persons, artisans and low income earners at the state house.
This was his own way of breaking the month long fasting period. President Buhari’s Ramadan fast ended with the hosting of low income earners such as taxi drivers, Keke NAPEP drivers, okada riders, tailors, barbers, mechanics, butchers and traders.
These set of people were invited to the state house for a buffet. The no 1 man in Nigeria deemed it fit to personally serve them himself.
This gesture goes in line with the earlier criticisms of Aisha Yesufu, a prominent member of the #BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) group.
Aisha had condemned the President’s choice of dining with only the influential people in the country. She thought it was unfair that the president would choose the high and mighty over the poor masses who put him in power.
After his 10 day vacation to the United Kingdom, it was reported that the president dined with senior APC members, the media, business leaders, top government officials, service chiefs, senior judicial officials and Muslim clerics.
As a spiritual exercise, Buhari’s Ramadan fast was broken in a religious ceremony and prayer celebrated by the Chief Imam of State House. After that, Buhari proceeded to entertain his challenged and low income earner guests.
While he addressed them, Buhari assured them that the government is doing its best to make life easier and better for them. As usual he did not forget to mention the load of burden he inherited from the past administration.
Be mindful that we care about you on daily basis, we will try to improve health services so you will spend less time looking for medical care.
Tell your family that this government is concern about your welfare and will work very hard to improve it.
