American reality show which sees celebrities pitted against each other in a battle of ‘ Who Can Lip Sync Better’ is coming to Africa next week!!
Famous Nigerian singer, D’banj and South African actress, Pearl Thusi have been announced as the hosts of the show.
The US version is hosted by LL Cool J and new mom, Chriss Teigen, while the UK version is hosted by former spice girl Mel B and british rapper, Professor Green. Lip Sync Battle Africa is hosted by our very own sensational singer D’banj and South African actress, Pearl Thusi.
The show will be shot in Johannesburg, South Africa and aired exclusively on MTV Base. Like its UK and US counterparts, the show will see African celebrities and entertainers paired against each other in a Lip Sync battle – as its name implies.

Co-host, D’banj was every enthusiastic about his new gig saying, “For me this is what I do for a living. This time I’ll be chilling and enjoying myself in my corner;
“Watching my colleagues, these are very interesting people, seeing celebrities do what they have never done. It’s all about the hosts, contestants, audience and viewers at home. In this current economy we need that kind of fun, to put a smile on your face.”

Pearl Thusi who is no stranger to hosting TV shows said ,
“I think with the kind of experience that I have had with all the other shows I’ve done on radio and TV, I really can handle this. I really think I’m fun, smart, sassy and spicy. And the show needs all those stuff.”
The premier episode will have lawyer and media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu battle it out with TV presenter Denrele Edun.
On their appearance in Lip Sync battle Africa, the duo had different things to say. Denrele said:
“I am going to have a lot of fun on Lip Sync Battle Africa. This is precisely the sort of thing I like to do ordinarily and I will feel right at home on that stage! My fans can expect to see Denrele at his crazy, quirky best and I think that will make the show very watchable. Too bad for Ebuka that he is coming up against me!”
While Ebuka had this to say:
“Lip Sync Battle Africa is a bit left field for me, but I look forward to having fun on the programme. I promise everyone a fantastic time and my fans will get to see a side of me that they have never seen before, and possibly a side of me that even I have never seen before. I’m really excited it looks like a lot of fun already”.
