There are always speculations on what the ideal body type is or should be.
A UK online pharmacy Superdrug Online Doctors published a project which they called “Perceptions Of Perfection“. The project features an image of a man and a woman , whom have been photoshopped by designers from different parts of the world to fit their culture’s idea of the ideal man/woman.
The project is to raise awareness on societal pressures on achieving a certain body type and to let people know that maintaining a good mental health trumps getting an ideal body that’s favored by society.
“People of all ages can feel societal pressure to attain certain physical ideals – and these feelings can color everything from self-worth to relationships. We want to affect change: to empower children to start life confident about their bodies, to promote health and well-being over quick-fix diets, and to encourage society to embrace people with all body shapes and sizes.” a statement said.
The images do not just feature photo-shopped body types but, hairstyles, height , waist line, shoe size, skin tone, hair color, among others were tweaked to express the designers’ preferences.
“Widely held perceptions of beauty and perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both women and men,” a Superdrug press release reads. “The goal of this project is to better understand potentially unrealistic standards of beauty and to see how such pressures vary around the world.”
In some images, the features were severely altered, making it hard to believe it’s the same person, while in others there were little alterations. Superdrug which
