Prince Harry’s most recent interview over the British Monarchy has reminded us of the saying, “uneasy lies the head that wears the crown”.
On the outside, it is an enviable and glamorous life style but on the inside are regular human beings who sincerely wish to be unburdened.
Prince Harry, who is the 5th in line to succeed the throne has never been one to be eager for the throne. His interview reveals that probably most royal members of the family do not want to assume the role if they had their way.
Be that as it may, he also recognized the fact that until further notice in the British leadership pattern, this is a call they must answer, ready or not. On that note he also hinted on the need to re-brand the British monarchy to suit the modern time.
The 2 royal princes, Harry and William have often been criticized for not featuring as much as their grandparents in royal engagements; translating that they may not be as dedicated as their predecessors.
Prince Harry says:
“People would be amazed by the ordinary life William and I live.”
“Even if I was king, I would do my own shopping.”
The 2 brothers especially Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, are now seen coming closer to their royal duties.
Prince Harry however notes that their royal service to the people is for an ultimate good as he commends his grandmother, the Queen for her strength and warm disposition towards the throne.
In his words:
“Is there any one of the Royal Family who wants to be king or queen? I don’t think so, but we will carry out our duties at the right time.”
“The monarchy is a force for good and we want to carry on the positive atmosphere that the Queen has achieved for over 60 years, but we won’t be trying to fill her boots. We are involved in modernizing the British monarchy. We are not doing this for ourselves but for the greater good of the people.”
“The Queen has been fantastic in letting us choose. She tells us to take our time.”
Formerly popular for his playboy personality, Prince Harry says he has turned a new leaf and trying to invest more in making life better for others, like his mother would.
The prince goes on to talk about the hard time he went through following the death of his mother. He frowned at the family’s decision to make him walk behind his mother’s corpse as a 12 year old, saying “no child should be asked to do that.”
“My mother had just died, and I had to walk a long way behind her coffin, surrounded by thousands of people watching me while millions more did on television.”
Prince Harry says he is set to take up the challenge of the British Monarchy. While at it he intends to live most of his life as normal and regular as possible.
Though a royalty, princess Diana was loved for being the regular girl on tiara with a heart for two. Like the 32-year old prince intends to do, she used 100% of her royal influence to do good for a lot of people.
Later this month on her 20th anniversary, her two sons intend to immortalize her with a statue in the public gardens of Kensington Palace.
