Good News Coffee Lovers, WHO Says It Reduces Risk Of Cancer

The International Agency for Research on Cancer, a part of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1991 said that coffee was possibly carcinogenic, this was because of a link to bladder cancer.

What came after and has been the trend for many generations is a culture of coffee lovers guiltily indulging on their beloved beverage and being cautioned to take it very sparingly, if at all.

Coffee has however been redeemed from that designation as the WHO has reversed their stand on the beverage. After decades of studies have branded coffee in a negative light in regard to individual health, mounting research is starting to overturn this conclusion.

The World Health Organization (WHO), a major global authority, recently announced that drinking coffee regularly probably reduces various cancers.

The influential panel of experts convened by the World Health Organization concluded on Wednesday that regularly drinking coffee could protect against at least two types of cancer, and this decision followed decades of research pointing to the beverage’s many health benefits.

The panel also said there was a lack of evidence that it might cause other types of cancer.

Admittedly, more evidence still has to be gathered before all the former negative assertions about coffee can be overturned, but health researchers are now mostly in favor of the beverage.

Added to the announcement by WHO on the effect of coffee on cancer, coffee lovers can also be armed with some other details on what coffee is doing for them.

Researchers have shown a lower risk for; heart disease, neurological disorders, diabetes and liver disease for those who regularly take coffee. It must be added, as good as all this may sound for coffee lovers that the panel also identified one surprising risk for both coffee and tea drinkers.

They said that drinking “very hot” beverages was “probably carcinogenic,” because the practice was linked to esophageal cancer in some studies.

So whichever beverage that you favor, it is a good idea for you to let it cool down before gulping it down, but it is safe to say that you can now enjoy your beverages with a free mind.
